Just as I was getting the camera out of the car, a small flock of Canada Geese were passing through my view of Longs Peak, from the western edge of Longmont, Colorado on an overcast Sunday morning. I took this handheld and "poof", they were gone.
Sometimes you just get lucky!

We made a quickie trip out to Colorado over the weekend and before we left on Sunday morning, we went looking for a nice view of the Rockies. It's so hard in the Longmont area to get a good, unobstructed view, but we found this one, halfway between Longmont and Boulder. The fence is part of the charm, I think, so I included it.

We made a quick trip out to Colorado yesterday to take my Mother-in-law back home. She's spent a few weeks with us for the Holidays. We didn't have a chance to go up into the mountains, but we did drive outside of town, near Boulder, and took a few photos before hitting the road back home this morning.

An overcast sky had my worried nothing would look good. Lucky us, we spotted some balloons in the sky and this one did us a favor and briefly dipped low enough to include some mountain scenery in the background.

Still inhabited by native people, the Pueblo has no running water, electricity and the floors remain dirt for the most part. This is all by choice. Some of the inhabitants only live here part of the time and also have more traditional homes outside the adobe walls of the Pueblo.

Sangre de Cristo Mountains rise in the background.

Taos Pueblo is the only living Native American community designated both a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and a National Historic Landmark. The multi-storied adobe buildings have been continuously inhabited for over 1000 years.

Cameras are permitted, for a fee, on the grounds. Photographing inhabitants is prohibited without getting their permission, but the dog said it was ok. There are a LOT of dogs. =-)

This is another of my balloon shots from that morning. I'm revisiting this one to rework it with Photoshop Elements 7. Worked on the colors and cropping a bit. Was never too happy with the previous versions.
