Took this from the Panorama Point overlook on Flagstaff Mountain the other night. Not amazing, but I thought it was decent enough to post (considering it was handheld, at night, at f/1.4 and 1600 ISO.) It helped that it was a cloudy night, so the city lights were reflected off the clouds, and then reflected again off the snow, sort of lighting up the shadows a bit.

I suggest viewing this LARGE

I was hoping for a later moonrise (to get more stars), but this turned out pretty decent. The Big Dipper is in the middle of the frame. The Colorado River was behind me.

We actually got to this campsite in the dark and had no idea what the landscape looked like around us. The moon gave some clues as it rose over those rocks on the right.

Not the best photo (you really have to see this stuff in person), but I guess it's alright. That platform on the right really bothers me. Also my S95 decided to start giving me a lens error. I think it's pretty much screwed unless I send it to get repaired. Bummer.

Took off work today and climbed up the Third Flatiron in Boulder. I look at this thing from below every day and now I got to see what it's like at the top.

Longs Peak and Rocky Mountain National Park are in the distance on the left. On the right is Boulder. The other rock formation straight ahead is the First Flatiron.

I don't think I've seen so much vibrant yellow in one place before.

Actually there is one spot in Shenandoah National Park right on Skyline Drive in the north district that is insanely yellow in the Fall.

But the yellow out here seems so much brighter.

has arrived in Colorado. Actually it got here over the last couple weeks while I was away. But it's sticking around long enough for me to get some pics!

This was handheld because I realized the baseplate for my tripod was at home while my tripod was in my trunk. Kind of useless at that point. Glad I had my 35 1.4 with me.
