Ol’ table game comes long way and we’re listening to Gaslight Anthem, NJ punk rock band’s song from their 2008 album The 59’sound. If songs are anything to go by..Film Noir, Wherefore Art Thou, Elvis?, Here’s looking at you, Kid, Even Cowgirls Get The Blues, the Springsteen fans got their classics straight.

‘Like’ reasons my musically challenged mind comes up with for Jim Morrison’s high school heartbreak song.

For the opening strings very reminiscent of the Indian raga (wiki research tells me are Robby Krieger's slinky, haunting guitar lines over D drone in DADGBD (double dropped D tuning) tuning using a harmonic minor scale …and whatever that is, works perfectly on my eastern eardrums.
For the lyrics, at once desperate, fatalistic and unendingly romantic if I may say so (ummmm maybe minus the psychedelic part, reeking of the Freudian Oedipus complex..the point escapes me..)
For the way things are….

(the poem Eloisa to Abelard became well known among many ppl( which includes me!) because of the Michel Gondry film by the same name. It was confusing and quirky, but I prefer it to a number of ‘straight’ movies I have seen. I’d say the best piece of tragi-comic, neorealistic, science fiction I’ve seen(not that I’ve seen a lot of that) in a long time.

The photo is out of focus, shaky, too bright, too colourful and perhaps might take some an effort to even call it a photo…but hey! There’s sunshine!;-)
