"Fine wine takes time" has been the theme for this vintage. Not only is it entirely true, it's also inadvertently an excuse to take all the sweet time in whatever process you're... well, processing. From sorting, to racking to barreling. If you're slow, and someone pushes you to hurry, all you need to say is, "Fine wine takes time", and they'll be off your back. Too bad this doesn't work for everything...

Occasionally, I run across a situation where I think, “Damn, this deserves to be photographed.” And this evening was one of them.

You see, most of the photos I take, I take for educational or constructive criticizing purposes. I usually snap a few angles, few camera settings, and then when I look at them back on the computer, I look at all of them – note what I like, and don’t like about them, and choose the best one (or couple) from a scene to post.

What makes this photo different is that I didn’t go out there with the intention of learning something. Sometimes, it’s good to just sit back, and capture what nature has to offer, without thinking about it too much.

I'm also trying to push my personal website. Please, check it out!

I'm really not sure how I missed this one.

I sat down to the dinner I made for the group of interns and was happily enjoying my 4th glass of wine. Afterall, I often cook with wine, and sometimes even put it in the food.

Putting the first bite of fettuccini in my mouth, I just happened to glance up, and out the window to this.

I throw my fork down, grab the vino (can't leave it behind, you know), and snatch up all the camera gear. I guess you could say I pulled an Aaron Reed on this one - running frantically back and forth, struggling to find a decent comp.

Remembering that sometimes the best sunset photos are not taken of the sun, or even in the direction of the sun, I had an inkling that looking down the road might after all be the best sort of shot I could get. So, I did.

Again, I don't know how I passed over this, and didn't post it while I was still in Australia, but I did.

And now I'm sharing it. Enjoy. =]

The lab, and back entrance to the winery - the cellar hand entrance! The sun rises from directly behind this hill (straight ahead), which makes for excellent shots. Maybe I'll get up early one day and do that again.

So, that blue-ish bit on the right side... any ideas? It's an infra red photo, so... I have a feeling my sensor, or the IR filter on the sensor is fubarred... ideas? Comment!
