Overgrown Railway Station

The old railway station that lies in the wood by the Standing Stane (stone) Road. This was part of the railway that ran from Kirkcaldy all the way up the east coast of Fife. Trees have now grown all around the the deserted building.

This just makes you think why did anyone think it was a good idea to take out the rail system in the east coast of Fife.
Nowadays the government are asking people to take public transport if only there had been a little hindsight then we would still have the track today.

The abandoned railway station that is hidden in the woods just off the Standing Stane road between Leven and Kirkcaldy. It is just a 5 minute walk if that from Phantassie Cottage.

The loading embankment of the old disused railway line in the wood at Standing Stane Road between Kirkcaldy and Leven. There is also the remainders of a wooden structure in the bottom right of this shot.

Old Railway Station Ruin

Stumbled across this old railway station while out walking my dog in a local wood. The West Wemyss Station as it was known seams to be in the middle of nowhere only a few cottages (one called Phantassie Cottage great name) around and a fare walk to West or East Wemyss. This is just off the Standing Stane (Stone) Road between Kirkcaldy and Leven.
