had this setup in my head for a few weeks whilst planning this shoot, and went out to set this up as the one shot of the day I wanted to get. I think it worked pretty well with such a great model.

Strobist: shoot through umbrella, SB28@ 1/16th power held level with model camera right by Dan (originally thought of a clamshell setup, but that became more like kite flying even with the stands weighted down with camera bags)

The first fruits of a collaborative shoot with Dan down on the beach in Deal, Kent. Dan's sacrificial chickens certainly kept the weather spot on - the overcast sky was the perfect giant softbox, and added some drama to the background. Props to Dan, and the other model, Jenny for putting together a look for this shoot, and a big thanks to Rachael, who gradually turned a funny shade of blue during the day and Kakta for stunning makeup.
