It's obviously some sort of former fast food, but I can't place it. There was a boarded up drive-thru on the left side of the building. It's near the old Wendy's, and there are former Dunkin Donuts, Burger King and a still open Church's Chicken close by.

Edit: A resident has confirmed this was once a Burger Chef.

Downtown Fresno, Ca. Coney Island has good food at reasonable prices and is a must-visit if you are in the area.

Built as a Hilton hotel, a series of ownership and name changes ended up with this property last using the Howard Johnson name. The owners were in dire straits financially, and the hotel was locked up when the water and gas were shut off, leaving guests out on the street and many workers went unpaid.

A few years after it's closure there was an effort to remodel it into a new hotel, but I moved away before I saw that come to fruition. The last time I saw the roof of the property the old Hilton sign was dumped in a pile in a corner of the roof.

Warnors Theater

1920's movie palace in Fresno, Ca. It was built as the Pantages Theater, and when it was bought by the Warner chain it was renamed the Warners Theater. The Warners was the only Fresno theater equipped to do Cinerama presentations, and I believe it had the capability to run 70mm film as well. It was closed in the 70's and by 1976 was scheduled to be demolished to make way for a parking lot.

The Caglia family stepped in and purchased the theater to save it from destruction, and later got it added to the National Register Of Historic Places. Part of the condition of the sale was that the theater could not retain the Warners name, so the new owners simply had a sign shop fabricate the "E" into an "O". The building has been the Warnors Theater for the Performing Arts ever since.
