Chris took this shot, with 500 Boylston Street, the campanile of Old South Church, Trinity Church, and Fairmont Copley Plaza Hotel reflected in the windows of the John Hancock Tower. The Berkeley Building, with its famous weather beacon, is on the left.

Chris aligned the exposure bracketed shots using hugin's command line "align_image_stack", and Madeleine combined them in GIMP to create an HDR image.

Chris found this Grapevine Beetle (Pelidnota punctata) in the stairwell. He was freaked by it, but showed it to me. I picked it up and insisted he take a photo.

Clematis is more of a vine, actually -- this one is growing on a narrow vertical trellis (you can see a bit on the right side of the plant).

This plant was tiny and weedlike (in contrast to the Spireae martini). Chris took this shot & likes the bokeh.

I took the opportunity to teach Chris the difference between a bumblebee and honeybee. These are both bumblebees here.

This is either summersweet (Cletchra alnifolia), or a Japanese relative that looks very similar (Clethra barbinervis). The sign at the arboretum described how these geographically-distinct-yet-obviously-closely-related plants were one of the first evidences for continental drift and the history of Earth's geography.
