We have had a few snowy days and this morning the world looked like this.

I would have loved to called in sick today and spent the day doing this. But as a result, these were more point and shoot between dropping the kids off and rush hour.

Duchesnay Falls North Bay

Duchesnay Falls is located just west of North Bay along Hwy 17 on Duchesnay Creek. Like many of the waterfalls on the Canadian Shield, this is a long cascade consisting of many drops and several twists and turns. The two largest drops are each around 15 feet high. In high water the falls forms two main channels. You can explore every inch of this waterfall by walking and climbing along the rocks. There are no fences.

A farm on a rural highway near my place. I wanted to get an HDR Shot of this later in the day as the sun was going down and do a partial HDR/Black and White version.

It came out more of a sepia than B&W when I did the final rework, but like so many things, it has a life of its own.

An old abandoned farm house just north of where I live. I had taken a photograph of this one some time ago, but want to get out there today and try the same shot in HDR.

Camera Club Info
This was shot with a Nikon D300S at ISO200 and using three bracketed photographs (-1EV, 0EV, +1EV). It was shot at a 34mm DX focal length (51mm at FX). I let the camera decide the exposure for each EV setting. The HDR was merged in Photomatix and fine tuned in Photoshop.

Back in my youth, we called this Roller Coaster Road and just over the hill you see off in the distance, it dropped down a steep hill that was called Devil's Elbow due to the two sharp turns right before a small one lane bridge.

I like to revisit some places, but behave myself now ... ;-)
