Le Grand Continal. This was a dance performance by 160, mostly non-professional, Portland dancers choreographed by Sylvain Emmard from Montreal. Portland, Oregon.
The original was cropped and converted to black and white.

Stones at Muriel's Beach

This is a little-used beach on the central Oregon Coast. When the tide is in, the stones in the creek and surf rattle, creating a beautiful percussion accompaniment to the sounds of the surf. The stones have all been smoothed and polished through their physical relationship with the tide. This is a large file, best viewed Fullscreen.

With a terrible heat wave in much of the US, it may be difficult for people to understand how welcome a little warmth is here in the Pacific Northwest.

This was in May on the central coast looking down from a stairway trail on one of the cliffs at Yaquina Head Natural Area. I think the tide was beginning to come in at that time, and the sun was behind the far cliff on the right. It was very windy and cold and beautiful. Dean

We've had vote-by-mail for years. It works. For those who don't get their ballot in the US Mail on time to be delivered by election day, or like dropping it in a box by hand (as I do), there are drop off boxes in convenient locations. The system increases voter turnout and more informed voting. That is why "conservatives" don't like it. - it interferes with their schemes to suppress votes through fake voter fraud I.D. campaigns and lessens their chances of winning. Voter fraud is very rare. increased voter I.D. requirements, and district election day in-person voting, suppress voting by people who move frequently (students, young people), people without driver's licenses (poor, minorities), those who can't miss work to vote, etc. all of whom tend to vote more liberal.
I completed my lengthy ballot at my dining room table with the aid of a stack of resource materials and good coffee.
This is also the 100 year anniversary of (some) women winning the right to vote in Oregon! Conservatives have never liked that idea much either. Women immediately began supporting progressive legislation on minimum wage, child welfare, and public health.
I don't know if this qualifies as "street photography". It doesn't show any down-and-out people. It isn't in black and white, and it doesn't look like the 1940s in an old industrial city. It is a candid street shot of a diversity of ordinary people doing something that is very important to them and very significant.

After two more dark, rainy days, the light became clearer and subtly beautiful about 5 PM, so I took a few Fall color photos in my Portland, Oregon neighborhood. The orange in this one led to the title; Charlie Brown had a hand in it also.

Cliffs above lower Yosemite Fall in October. The Sierra Nevada falls are at their lowest volume of the year in October. This is one of many photos that I took in Yosemite a year ago with my Panasonic micro 4/3 G1 and the kit 14-45 zoom lens. I did the best I could correcting for lens distortion.
My apologies to Ansel Adams. I'm pleased with some aspects of this - the sun low in the sky at that time of year creates dramatic shadows, and the black and white brings them out.

See the next "newer" photo. I was delighted to chance upon this street musician set up by herself in Director Park, downtown Portland, Oregon today. Not only is she a good photo subject, she is a fine musician. She was playing complex, inspired music, playing her heart out and rarely resting except to flex her wrists.
Like her on Facebook as "Alyk the Traveling Marimba Busker".
I shot this with a German Zeiss Jena 135/3.5 legacy film camera lens on a Panasonic micro 4/3 G1 digital camera.
