Magnificent eucalypts in Kings Park, Fraser Avenue. Perth, Australia

Fraser Avenue was officially named in 1931 in honour of Sir Malcolm Fraser, Surveyor General of Western Australia 1870-1883.
Originally the red-flowering gums (Corymbia ficifolia) was planted along Fraser Avenue to honour Queen Victoria's Jubilee in 1898.
But in 1938 they were replaced by these lemon-scented gums (Corymbia citriodora syn. Eucalyptus citriodora) from the east coast of Australia. During the 1970s the lemon-scented gums flourished. Today, the interlocking canopies form a majestic avenue that provide a well-photographed entry statement to Kings Park and Botanic Garden.

Really amazing that eastern gum trees survive better there than local red-flowering gums. Go figure...

The most pleasant bike ride here along the river.

This street has one of the most beautiful trees.
You can see flowering Flame tree (Brachychiton acerifolius) and purple Jacaranda (flowering almost over).
Then there will flower red and yellow Poincianas.
(it is Peltophorum dubium they call "Yellow Poinciana").

I do not know why I like this shot - may be because it looks exactly like it was - evening in the forest at a slight blizzard, very contrasting to the previous photo from this forest at a sunny morning.
There is no manipulation, it's real colour, not b/w shot.
The trees are oaks, maples, linden and some willows. They are spectacular in autumn with fall foliage.

More flowering jacaranda photos.
Flowering is almost over by now, but rain still has not came in Brisbane.

Note, there young trees in the foreground were planted to replace some trees (photo below) died after flood January 2011 Goodna was heavily submerged.
