A manufacturer of industrial starch in Krefeld, Germany. The smoke, as soft as it looks, just ... smells foul and sweet at the same time. Anyway, a nice sight.

Soaring temperatures around 5F make me want to set an end to the period of hibernation I have been in during the last weeks. I apologize for not being active on flickr, not looking or commenting on your images, but it was simply work that kept me from that. I am still working, though I hope to get back to your streams step by step.
This image was taken this morning while I waited for the bus. Behind the tree is the frozen Lake Mendota, and only now with thawed fingers I realize how lovely a scenery that is.
For Madisonians: The bus stop is on East Gorham/North Blair right at James Madison Park.

Sunset at Ka'anapali Beach, located in the north west of Maui. The people are standing on "black rock", that once was a volcano and believed to be the jumping off point for the spirits and souls of Hawaiians. The pole on the right is a torch that is lit at sunset.

Here are some impressions from my trip to Maui and the Big Island of Hawaii. I am starting with a view on the Honomanu Bay and the famous road to Hana that is carved into the lush green north east of Maui. I have used a polarizer here, which had an incredible effect.
What impressed me the most about Hawaii was its diversity and the sometimes rapid change of landscapes. Here we are in the tropical rainforest, and in one hour we were standing on lava fields with dry grass. Oh, and there are sunsets ...
