You may not first recognise this little toy but it is in fact the humble Slinky, turned in on itself.

I had seen the potential abstract photography of it before, but had never bothered to take a picture of it until now. I think it turned out quite well.

A little zoom burst was added for effect (in camera).

I knew the type of shot I had in mind, I just didn’t have the old/vintage books to achieve it. So I visited the library and they kindly let me photograph some of their older works.

There’s something about the look, feel and even smell which we will never replace with digital - shame.

A little dangerous perhaps but I got directly under an electricity pylon for this shot, and yes, I was lying down also :)

This light painting didn’t quite turn out as I wanted, it’s less so the light but more the playing cards which just aren’t exposed correctly.

If you notice, the card numbers make the famous number sequence.

Although not immediately apparent from this angle of shot, the plant is actually contained within the large metal pipe. It’s a nice feature which the house owners have decided to utilise for their outside garden - cool huh? :)

The challenge was about taking a risk, trying something new, pushing the boundaries. I hadn’t tried out this type of photography before (Steel Wool), so it seemed an ideal opportunity…and it looked cool! ;)

So I enlisted the help of a friend (thank you AC) and out we ventured. We were lucky to get a relatively clear sky, and I think the stars add an extra dynamic to an already dramatic picture - great on BLACK :)
