Golden Gate Bridge from Baker Beach

After nearly four years of living in San Francisco, I've finally succumbed to shooting the Golden Gate Bridge. There's no way to shoot this bridge that doesn't result in a cliché, but I'm fond of the light that resulted at this time on a rainy evening.

This belongs in my small set of photos exemplifying why it's good to look around even if you think you know what your subject is. I had joined a group to shoot the Golden Gate Bridge (the results of which are the next image after this). It was rainy, cloudy and not that pleasant. But just as the sun started approaching the horizon, there was a gap in the clouds for about 10 minutes. The result was some amazing colors over Point Bolinas. It was well worth getting rained on.

Like the image immediately after this, I'm glad I turned around and stopped paying attention to my alleged subject (the Golden Gate Bridge, seen a couple images after this one in chronological order). While we got rained on before and after this, there was a wonderful 10-minute break in the clouds as the sun was beginning to set, leaving some fantastic light on the rain clouds hovering over the Marin Headlands.

While walking through the high-neon, high-tourist portions of Paris' Latin Quarter, I decided to see what happened if I kept the shutter open as I walked. The result was an orderly yet jumbled abtract of neon lights.

Street, Fez Medina

A typical street in the "new" part of Fez's medina (the new part dates from the 13th century, compared to the 9th century for the old part). (Near the center of the frame, you can see one of the thousands of feral cats that seem to roam all of Morocco's cities.)

Leather Dyers, Fez Tannery

One of the biggest workshops in Fez's medina is the tannery. Workers still hand-process the skins, dying leather in stone vats, often by standing in the vat as they work the leather.

Approach to the Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca. The mosque is one of the largest in the world (in terms of both area and capacity) and features the tallest minaret of any mosque (210 m/689 ft).
