I'm amazed at how quickly the trees are turning this year. Despite the fall colors on the far bank, it was the green stuff on the pond bottom that had me taking this picture.

I was out early yesterday dropping my daughter off at school, so took a spin through Hines Park hoping for a good sunrise. The sky was clear, and that made for some delicate tones. This was a really nice way to start my birthday.

I was at Wilcox Lake yesterday, and decided to test out the capabilities of my new camera at high ISO. These dragonflies were flying around, but not willing to land and pose for me, so I worked on shooting them in flight.

I never realized they pulled their legs up to their bodies while in flight.

The fungal jungle

Today I got to have lunch with my wife, then after, we went to Hines Park where we walked around looking at the budding and blooming trees and plants. One of the things we found were these odd little things growing in a couple of the more barren areas of grass. They were only a couple of inches tall, and hard to see until we stooped down. I don't think they're actually fungus, but I do think they look like fungus.

More than anything, I enjoyed spending some good one on one time with my wife today.
