There is something cool about a city coming to life as the sun goes down. We caught Toronto in the blue hour (thanks to a location tip from Sandra), and watched it light up.

While in Toronto, we took a tour of the CN Tower. The view was spectacular. I could have spent the whole day up there. Maybe next time.

Louisville is not as colorful as Cincinnati at night, however it is nice to see a city with so many lights on. I shot this from Indiana.

It's Tuesday - time to be on my face somewhere. Went to the city with my wife and our friend Patty to explore, get some pictures, and have a good time.

Word on the street is that the 3.5 million square foot abandoned Packard facility is going to be fenced off, then torn down. Before that happened, I knew I needed to get this facedown shot from the roof, six floors up, with Detroit in the background.

This place has the best views in town.

Pam, the kids, and I went to Windsor the other evening for the sunset. My sense of direction was off, because it set on the Windsor side of the river... So we took pictures of Detroit without the sunset.

This long exposure picture using ND filters turned out to be one of my favorite of the evening because of the similarity of color between the Detroit River and the sky.

Circular Supernumerary Rainbow

Back in June, I was in Detroit with my wife and kids, and the weather was right for rainbows. We got lucky, and came across this lot which was mostly covered in puddles, and it provided a perfect reflecting pool. At the time I did not know how to process HDR or fusion, or tone mapping, but my friend Ray had taught me how to bracket pictures, so I was doing that from time to time in anticipation of future processing.

I originally posted a picture of this rainbow and reflection in June, but have gone back and re-processed it based on what I know now. I hope you don't mind the re-visit.

A supernumerary rainbow—also known as a stacker rainbow—is an infrequent phenomenon, consisting of several faint rainbows on the inner side of the primary rainbow, and very rarely also outside the secondary rainbow. Supernumerary rainbows are slightly detached and have pastel colour bands that do not fit the usual pattern.

If you view it in the largest format, you will see the supernumerary effect.

Detoured through Chicago on our way home today, parked by the Hard Rock Hotel, and walked across town to the Hard Rock Cafe. We stopped for a bunch of photos (of course), and I was excited to see Marilyn.

Our timing could have been better, as the tour bus arrived at the same time as us. Oh well.

Marilyn is a giant - around 20 feet tall.

It's Super Mollie!

Imagine my surprise when I glanced out the window on approach to JFK, and saw Super Mollie flying alongside our plane. Fortunately I don't listen to the warnings that tell us to turn off our electronic devices, so I have my camera on my lap, ready for just such a special opportunity,
