I love the old stove and the wallpaper that is still somehow hanging (literally) in there.

On my latest trip to the Comet ghost town, I visited several cabins I had missed before.
This one has a great view of the mill and mountain behind the town.
The skies were spitting rain on an off, so it was a matter of finding a spot in the cabins that didn't let the rain through. Kind of hard sometimes!
Anyway, thanks for looking, and I appreciate all comments!

This is an electrical panel in an abandoned mine I found near Philipsburg, Montana. It seems that one day they just decided to up and leave, and all equipment was left in place.

This is a bed in one of the upstairs rooms of the Garnet Hotel.
I was fascinated by the intricate details of the springs, and can only wonder how cool it would be if springs could talk!
It looks ready to throw a mattress on and have a good nights sleep, even after 120 years...

This is one of the offices from the administration building of the Comet Ghost Town.
As I entered this room, I was immediately puzzled as to why I just stumbled over a two ton rock in the middle of the floor!
Why and how this rather large boulder is sitting here is a very good question.
Anyway, I thought this was a rather neat shot, combined with the eerie water stains on the fiber board walls.
The walls had been so saturated over the years that the fiber was breaking down, and you can run your hand over it, which feels almost like velvet.
The ceiling was conveniently illuminated by a late day sun, giving me the contrast I was looking for.
The massive building in the window is the mill where the ore was processed.

When I photographed this cabin at the Coolidge Ghost Town, I didn't realize something until post production.
When I zoomed in on the window, and looked at the richly colored wood on the rear wall, I saw what appeared to be numerous faces in the patterns of the wood!
Maybe it's from drinking too much 100 proof schnapps, but it still appears to be faces to me.
I will let you be the judge and let me know if you can see tortured souls, trapped in their own Purgatory......

This amazing old school is in the small town of Moccasin, Montana.
I can't remember how many times I have driven by here, and never stopped.
Never knew what I was missing, as this place is Urbex paradise!
The decay is so intense, and a perfect subject for HDR.
Next time, I plan on trying to get inside to really document the place properly.

This is the wonderful rock tumbler, which is located in the huge mill of the Comet ghost town.
I could not get enough of this old warhorse, and how it still is majestic, even after all these years.
Something about rust that stirs the soul. Makes one harken back to a time when things were simpler.
And the only thing that mattered was making enough money to survive, and not freezing to death! What a life....

One of the well preserved buildings at the ghost town of Elkhorn, near Boulder, Montana.
I am really taken by the wallpaper in these towns, and how it deteriorates.
The way it gets torn, peeled and stained by water seepage.
One could employ a little imagination to see shapes and even words.
To the open minded, it is fanciful to think those long departed have left us a pictograph, if you will, in their own way. It is up to us to interpret them.
