I had leftover ground beef from yesterday's italian meatball dinner so I decided to make myself a nice treat of homemade burger! I didn't have any burger buns (nor the veggie toppings that usually go with one) but it turned out just fine.

It's my birthday today, and seeing how I've only started to learn how to bake two months ago, I decided it was only right i baked my own birthday cake! Here is my three shades of purple vanilla cake with buttercream frosting. :)

I finally got my hands on a taiyaki pan (they are difficult to find!) and didn't waste any time in trying to recreate a favorite childhood snack of mine. Used simple pancake batter and these delicious little fishies have a cream cheese, chocolate and peanut butter filling (not all together, of course). Absolutely scrumptious!

Boy, that was a mouthful to say. Tweaked my spiced pumpkin cake recipe into these gorgeous muffins, added chocolate chips for an added layer of flavor to the pumpkin spice and pistachios for color.

Have been suffering from tension headaches lately, especially at night, and needed something to feel better. I whipped up this pumpkin and kidney bean soup which turned out great, considering I didn't have a recipe. Used curry powder, cumin and turmeric instead of the usual pumpkin spices as I didn't like the idea of drinking allspice.

It was delicious and did a lot to soothe me!

It was a very rainy day and that always puts me in the mood to bake. I think I did good on sticking to fall themed ingredients here. It was super moist and super delicious! :)

Autumnal Chocolate Bark

With the arrival of Autumn in just two days, I thought I'd give it a little early welcome with this homemade chocolate bark! Tempered 70% cacao Lindt chocolate, roasted cashews and pumpkin seeds, julienned crystalized ginger, diced dried apricots and a nice dash of kosher salt to finish.

Gone almost instantly. :)

Tried my hand at making chocolate cake today... in the midst of things got a little ambitious and decided to go for ultra decadence and made chocolate ganache. Tasted exactly as it should; SINFUL. :)

I had some leftover shortcrust pastry from yesterday's fruit tarts so I decided to make these quick and simple salted chocolate chip cookie strips. Apparently I can't call them bars because they'd have to be thicker and wider for that ;-/

Tried my hand at making fruit tarts. It was a LOT of work as I made the shortcrust pastry and cheese filling from scratch (hidden under the fruits). Overall they all came out tasting wonderful but aesthetically disappointing. I need to learn how to pinch the dough so it looks prettier and perhaps use a thinner layer of pastry next time.
