The oldest cemetery in Glastonbury, Connecticut, most of the earliest gravestones are barely legible, due to the use of brownstone which does not weather and age well.

This plum tree is in our front yard, every spring it bursts into flower. I like the different textures in this shot, especially the contrast between the delicate petals, the new leaves and the rough tree bark.

Last spring I was walking in the Cotton Hollow Nature Reserve in South Glastonbury, this flower, growing about 6 - 8 inches from the ground, caught my attention. The flower was quite small probably no more than 2 inches in size. I really had to get down low to shoot it.

What is it? Is native to the North- East? Any information would be appreciated.

The large mosaic that dominates the altar area is of Christ Pantocrator, Christ Almighty or all powerful.

The most common translation of Pantocrator is "Almighty" or "All-powerful". In this understanding, Pantokrator is a compound word formed from the Greek words for "all" and the noun "strength" (κρατος).

Beneath the feet of Christ are 4 "medallions each depicting one of the authors of the Gospels, the apostles Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. Below the windows are a series of frescoes depicting Biblical scenes.

My wife and I usually spend part of an afternoon there when we visit the Cape.
