I'm now able to get just about 3 ft from the feeders without freaking out the birds. Most, like the chickadees and the nuthatches don't care. Others, like the woodpeckers are much more timid.

since we sold our house and now live in a condo, i really miss being able to have my hands in the dirt, growing plants and herbs and veggies.

i keep a few small containers on the patio usually containing easy to maintain herbs that I can cook with.
this is a greek oregano i potted last spring. I just added rosemary and basil as well.

I've decided to try planting tomatoes in a container again this year, hopefully the sun will cooperate this year. last year my plant didn't yield any tomatoes.

i've been creating a lot of photo manip images lately, mostly because the weather has been rotten. I decided I'd go shooting this weekend but saturday was busy, today it's way too windy and cold… so i'm shooting indoors today. :)

well, it's snowing like crazy, both yesterday and today. so much so that the varied thrushes that live in the tree next to my place are so desperate that they've decided to visit my patio for some seed.

it's the first time i've seen them do this so i know times are tough for them out there :) you can even see a little snow on his head.

covers this week's challenge: natural frames.

one of my goals this year, with my photography, is to push myself and my creativity a bit. this tackles the first half of that goal.

-added highlights to my eyes and
-combination of studio and natural lighting.
-under eye touchup and blemish removal

I forgot to wear earrings during the shoot.

i went berry picking yesterday at a nearby park and wound up coming home with about 2 pounds of wild blackberries. Today, I'll be making blackberry scones and a blackberry crisp. Yum.

rainy days go good with peanuts.

i've been luring them closer for a couple of months now. a few of them are now comfortable enough to fly up and decide which peanut to grab while I stand a few feet away and take pictures.

these are 3 individual photos of two, if not three different steller's' jays.
