They call them Blackbirds, but there is a lot more going on than just black in these birds. The female, no surprise, is a uniform brown with brown eyes.

I found this Towhee eating seeds that someone had left on a tree stump. What caught my attention was the band around its leg. Based on the band, I have seen this bird before in the same area. I am also surprised at getting a pretty clear picture even at ISO 6400.

This Cowbird Chick is trying to get it's parent, an American Goldfinch, to feed it. The Goldfinch is about one quarter the size of the chick but is giving her all to raise "her" young one!
