The forbidden Bay

A wonderful quiet place in the morning. Lago d'Iseo, close to Riva di Solto.
Unfortunately it's forbidden to hike along the old road (to the right) due to the risk of falling rocks.

In der Frühe ein wunderbar stiller Ort. (unweit von Riva die Solto am Iseosee)
Leider ist es verboten entlang der alten Strasse (rechts im Bild) zu laufen. Steinschlaggefahr...

Montisola at twilight

Montisola is the highest lake island in Europe.
Looks like a big mountain has tumbled right into the middle of Lago d'Iseo.
There's no car traffic on Montisola, just mopeds...
.
Montisola ist die am höchsten aufragende Binneninsel Europas.
Sie erinnert an einen Berg, der hier irgendwann mal in die Mitte des Iseosees hineingepurzelt ist.
Auf der Insel gibt es eine Reihe kleiner Dörfer, auch Strassen, aber keine Autos. Nur Mofas...

You should'nt enter the little island to the right. It's private property of firearms manufacturer Beretta.

Wolken über dem Iseosee, gesehen von Europas höchster Binneninsel: Montisola.
Die kleine Insel zur rechten sollte man keinesfalls entern. Sie gehört dem italienischen Waffenhersteller Beretta.

Gleno Dam in the Alps of Bergamo was built in the years 1918-23. It was finished before it's construction was approved and so it was possible to save a lot of money. Unfortunately it cracked at the end of the same year due to several construction defects. The flood in December 1923 killed more than 500 people.

Der Gleno Staudamm in den Bergamasker Alpen wurde erbaut in den Jahren 1918-23. Er wurde bereits vor seiner Genehmigung fertiggestellt, wodurch sehr viel Geld eingespart werden konnte. Unglücklicherweise brach der Damm noch im Jahr der Fertigstellung aufgrund baulicher Mängel. Die dadurch entstandene Flutwelle tötete am 1.12.1923 über 500 Menschen.

Montisola ist eine kleine Insel mitten im Iseo-See gelegen. Außer ein paar Inselbussen und KFZ mit Sondergenehmigung sind hier nur Mofas zugelassen.
Ein solches Vehikel ist hier für die Müllentsorgung vorgesehen.

Montisola is an island located in the middle of Lake Iseo.
Only the island buses and some thousands of moped are permitted to drive here.
Such a tricar vehicle is used for the islands garbage disposal.

Almsee (meadow Lake) is a pretty nice alpine lake in the so-called Salkammergut are, Austria. In the background you can see the Dead Mountains (Totes Gebirge).

Der Almsee ist ein sehr hübsch gelegener Bergsee am südlichen Ende des Almtales im österreichischen Salzkammergut. Im Hintergrund kann man das Tote Gebirge erkennen.
