Do you know the famous Arch Rock in Joshua Tree Nationalpark? There is a huge boulder just underneath the arch. I stood below the arch, close to the boulder at sunrise and took this selfie of my shadow.

Trying spontaneously to get free campsite in Joshua Tree NP at Thanksgiving Weekend is not really a good idea. So I had to stay an uncomfortable night in my car somewhere in a quiet backstreet in 29Palms, hmmm.
So, I got up very early, drove all the way up to the National Park, where I could enjoy an incredibly bright and colorful dawn in absolute tranquility and gorgeous solitude.

Ludlow Ghost Town

Abandoned gas station at Ludlow, California.
Since the new interstate I-40 was built a lot of old established institutions, like gas stations and cafes along Route 66 were abandoned and little cities became Ghost Towns. Ludlow is a good example and offers a lot of beautiful subjects for interesting photographies.

There are a lot of amazing rock formations in Joshua Tree National Park. One of the most bizarre can be found in the Jumbo Rocks Area close to the same-named campground.

For me Aguereberry Point is one of the most amazing viewpoints in Death Valley National Park. It is located in the Panamint Mountains high above the valley floor on the opposite side of famous Dante's View.

Kidding aside. Who needs missions to Mars, when we have the spectacular Rimrock Hoodoos in the Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument. The Hoodoos on this picture actually don't belong to the real Rimrock Hoodoos, they are a little to the west. I discovered them, when I took (fortunately) the wrong way.
