The Chinese are Tall

William J H Leonard posted a photo:

When returning from my holidays I was wrapped up in the arrival of many of the Olympic athletes. On my plane there were competitors from Samoa, New Zealand and Tonga and many more at Heathrow. But the ones that stood out were the Chinese basketball team. The Chinese are stereotyped as being short people, but these guys prove that wrong with all being well over six foot. I have been to China before and got used to the staring and thought they wouldn't mind being on the receiving end! I had been to a couple of Beijing Ducks games in China and reconised some of the players. Despite obviously tired from the long flight and being rushed off to the Olympic village these guys were more than happy to allow me to take a couple of pictures. I wish them the best of luck!

Basketball is a very popular sport in China, throughout the country young boys can be seen on courts at all hours of the day. The CBA, China's national league is watched by millions around the country. China are the most dominant team in Asia and in recent years have begun breaking into the elite national teams. They are strong contenders for medals this year.

From left to right the players are Guo Ailun, Zhu Fangyu, Liu Wei and Yi Li.
