The patio of the Palacios Nazaries shows elements of Persian and Muslim inspiration and appears like a nomad’s oasis combining garden elements with life giving water.

The river flows through the north eastern suburbs of Victoria and ends up in the Bay where Melbourne is situated. When the sun shines, as here, the trees and sky appear in the water!.

These lovely young ladies (one picture above and two below) throw lavender at people admiring them along the promenade, whilst these throw back confettis. If only all battles could be like that, the world would be a better place.

This 80 mile long glacier flows eastwards from the Polar Plateau to the Ross Sea.

This picture shows the many massive crevasses (as deep as 45 metres, as wide as 20 metres, and up to several hundred metres long) resulting from ice moving over rocky outcrops. Also note the sheer vertical wall of one the giant rocks.

Lost City of the Incas - Peru

The Incas constructed their buildings from quarried stones chipped into blocks wedged closely together without cement. Even the thinnest knife blade cannot be inserted between the blocks. Buildings like the door shown here (and other sites shown below) have not collapsed in spite of several earthquakes in seismically unstable Peru.

The Great Wall of China, stretching about 22,000 kms from Shanhaiguan in the east to Lop Lake in the west, is the only man-made structure that can be seen from outer space. In 1987, it was listed as a World Heritage site By UNESCO.

Marble Temple - Wat Benchamabophit - Bangkok Thailand

This Buddhist temple, built just before the end of the 18th century, was commissioned by King Chulalongkorn who had been very intereted in European designs. It was built of Italian Carrera marble pillars, hence the name Marble Temple.

Opunohu Bay is where HMS Bounty, commandeered by William Bligh, landed in 1787 in search of breadfruit and remained there for 5 months. Although some of the crew formed “connections” with the beautiful carefree local girls, Bligh ruthlessly ordered them to set sail, and this eventually led to what is known today as the Mutiny on the Bounty.

Tahitian dancer - Tahiti

The true name of the Tahitian Dance is Ori Tahiti. It is the most spectacular of all the Polynesian dances and is often performed in a traditional grass skirt (as here) by a group of dancers . It is inspired by ancient legends, the rapid swaying of the hips and the elegant undulating of the arms conveying the movement of the waves breaking on the coral reef. Unlike in this picture, grass skirts are now unfortunately made from synthetic materials and are brightly coloured.
