To all my contacts and friends, sorry for not visitng your streams in the last while....between recovering from the knee surgery, a trip to Vancouver on the weekend, planning a couple of other trips and also trying to get caught up on work, my Flickr activity has been curtailed dramatically. I'll be around to check out your great pics in the next little while...but maybe not tomorrow since I have to go to the Victoria passport office for a renewal. Hopefully the lineups are less than a day long.

This pic was taken by the Plaza of Nations along False Creek in Vancouver. It's been a long time since I hung out in this area. I still call it the Expo Grounds - and that dates back to 1986.

The cranes in the background are on the grounds where athlete housing is being built for the 2010 Winter Olympics.

Moss clings to rocks along the Galiano Island coastline. It wasn't a great day for shooting on Sunday, but the Galiano scenery begs to be photographed, regardless of the weather.

I wish I could have stayed in Chicago a little longer to see this river turned green for St. Paddy's day. The building on the left is the new Trump Tower; the white one with the spire is the classic Wrigley Building.

I think a bit of beginner's luck came into play on this one. I got this on the first day I tried HDR.

My birthday was on the weekend and my girlfriend surprised me with a one-hour charter in a light plane. We flew over a bit of Vancouver Island and some of the Gulf Island. It was an absolutely perfect day for flying. I was hoping to use this shot and a couple others of the mountain for the "Where am I in BC" group, but I apparently suck at that game because both pics I put into that group were guessed on the first try.

One of about 20 Galapagos sharks circling the cage I was in on Oahu's north shore near near Haleiwa. Diving with the sharks is the most exhilarating things I've ever done. They truly are awesome creatures to watch.

This was my first attempt at underwater photography, and it was kind of difficult. Since I was only snorkeling, I didn't have any weights on to keep me stable, so I was being bumped around a lot by the current. It was also my first time using this particular camera....it also didn't help that my mask kept fogging up!

I shot this in the summer and have showed it to a few people before posting it here. It seems people either love it or hate it. I happen to love it, but I'm biased. I was taking a pic of the sunset over Quamichan Lake from a pier in Duncan, BC, on Vancouver Island. I bent over to pick something up and noticed the spider web on the pier's guard rail. This was the result of that find.
