Another shot from the bus station at St Ives as some rain-bearing clouds began to drift into the frame from the west. Got a bit of a soaking myself, but well worth it for the brief but wonderful lighting! Thanks for viewing.

Harbour blues

A two minute exposure of St Ives harbour captured during the “blue hour”. The small lighthouse is not floodlit itself, but was sufficiently illuminated by the adjacent lamp on the pier. Thanks for viewing.

I noticed the clouds breaking during a rainy day in St Ives. I headed up to the bus station (probably the best bus station in England for the views) and hung around for about 20 minutes, capturing some amazing, changeable lighting. The rainbow skating across the sea was a bonus. Thanks for viewing.

Currently enjoying a half-term break in St Ives so thought I’d “post” a postcard. This is the harbour, captured with the aid of a circular polariser to saturate the colours and bring out the clouds. Thanks for looking, and will catch up later.

Porth Kidney cloudscape

Cumulus clouds reflected in the waters of the retreating tide at Porth Kidney in west Cornwall - Godrevy Lighthouse can be made out in the distance towards the left of the image. As the waves were a bit messy I elected to shoot them before they broke. A circular polariser brought out the colour. Thanks for viewing.

Colour at sea

A double rainbow over St Ives Bay captured from the balcony of a Carbis apartment we rented during an autumn half-term break. The shower was travelling rapidly south (towards me) and a few seconds after this frame raindrops began to fall on the lens. Thanks for viewing.

After spotting some rainclouds over St Ives Bay from our holiday apartment, I headed down to Carbis Bay beach. Rainbows kept appearing and disappearing as a number of showers crossed the bay from the west (left). This was one of the more vivid and persistent (double) rainbows. Thanks for looking.
