In 27 steps and 360 degrees.

Interestingly assuming you had telescopic vision and I hadn't messed with this you could see both the nearby Brecon Beacons summits and the Mumbles way away glinting against the sea. That's the fourth time I've been up here and I'd never seen that before.

Another photos for Songs of Travel.
Maen Llia 360 in eight eighths

Rob.Hudson posted a photo:

It’s part of my thinking for Songs of Travel that the images should at least aim to interact with the landscape like a normal person – i.e. not a landscape photographer.

We might well, stop and stare, but do we see compositions? We would sweep our eyes around a grand vista, but would we make a panorama?

We would find a standing stone and walk around it, as in this image: Maen Llia in eight eighths. A one off 360 perambulation.

Taken on a lovely trip out in, and up the Brecon Beacons with Adam Clutterbuck www.flickr.com/photos/adamclutterbuck/

He looks me straight in the eye,
ninety years old.
folded in his favourite chair

and tells me he doesn't want this,
to watch himself die, to have the doctor
plumb any further in the depths of his scarred lungs.

He who himself spent so many years
holding the chests of others to the light
to forecast the storms gathering there,
and some day a bright bait caught your eye
and you were taken in a magpie trap,

This morning, twenty men buried in one long grave,
a broken mosaic of bone linked arm in arm,
their skeletons paused mid dance-macabre

in boots that outlasted them,
their socketed heads tilted back at an angle
and their jaws, those that have them, dropped open.

'…we're no more than scattered grains;
that from here in this view, 9, 19 or 90 years
are much the same

that it isn't the number of steps
that will matter,
but the depth of their impression.'

And that's why he's come back again,
to tip these ashes onto the tongue of the wind
and watch them spindrift into the night.
