De Havilland DHC-1 Chipmunk 22A, wearing serial WG472. Mainstay RAF basic trainer of the 1950s and 1960s. Used to see these all the time when I was a kid on various RAF camps. Can't really remember what was going on behind this one to create its fiery exhaust.

Otter Lutra lutra. I found it on the road just south of the tip of The Mere at Ellesmere, Shropshire, UK - just after midnight and surprisingly unsquashed. Removed to the verge, from where it was later taken for post-mortem examination. It met its end where a narrow wooded corridor from the Mere to the Shropshire Union Canal crosses the A495 - so there may well be regular otter traffic across just there. 21 Sep 08 – Ricoh R6

Emperor moth Saturnia pavonia larva on a lizard orchid Himantoglossum hircinum. This is as I found it, but... do they eat them, or did the last ento-botaniser to pass by find it on some normal foodplant and stick it on there to make a pretty photo? Cambs., UK – 14 June 09 – Panasonic FZ20

My bike (in front, ignore the other one) and my bro on the ferry at Dover, leaving our shores for France and thence Spain. April 1983. From a slide taken with a Ricoh XR7, digi-photographed by hand-holding it up to a light bulb - ugh. Rubbish pic, but it's history (must get a slide-scanner).
