Bright and early

With the freak weather that were experiencing in the UK today, I thought that a picture of the cold and ice was more than appropriate.

20° + and wearing shorts last week and now temperatures of nearly freezing with snow storms. I knew there was a reason why I love the UK so much!

This is Bradgate Park on my -7° outing a few months back.
I used an ND grad filter to hold the colours in the sky, clouds and sunrise.

Taken in the grounds of the stunning Chatsworth House estate and in heart of Derbyshire's Peak District, this is the river Derwent (not that you can see much of it).

Sunset's are not really my forte but as I approached the Salford Quays for some night photography I was confronted with these beautiful colours at dusk.

Foggy fields

a..... 4:30am start to a Saturday morning and we were confronted with some of the worst fog I've ever experienced. Upon our arrival to the Peak District in Derbyshire it didn't lift in the slightest.

But in a way, It was nice to have these difficult and different conditions to work with, I used an ND grad to try and keep the balance here.

Newcastle Quayside

Whilst working away this evening I managed to pop out after a late shift and grabbed a few shots of Newcastle's Quayside and City Centre. While I was snapping away on the Quay I bumped into a few guys doing the same, we got talking and I was asked if I'd like to join them on their walk round the City.

This is Gateshead's - The Sage building and The Millennium Bridge along the River Tyne... Albeit, it felt more like a hike than a walk!

This image won me 1st Place in the Nottingham, UK Flickr group, thanks to all who voted for me.

Whilst on my very early walk this morning, I came across quite a few new editions to the world.
Besides soaking up the lovely sunrise rays, they were very curious to what I was doing.

I was in fact experimenting with a friends 2x extender on my Canon EF 70-200mm f/4 L lens.
Luckily the extra 200mm of focal length came in handy as they were quite far away.

No Macro lens for me, so this is my attempt with my Tamron f/2.8.

River Tyne reflections

I was amazed just how vibrant this came out and particularly love the sharpness to the Millennium Bridge's underside reflections. A 30 second exposure with no colour tweaks.

The Sage building can be seen just above the Millennium Bridge's walkway, and the Tyne Bridge in the far distance (well part of it).

With the weekend being a bit of a washout, I decided that I'd take a trip to stables as the misses needed to bring the horses in.

Unfortunately the wind turbine has a mechanical fault at the moment and with the broken clouds, this gave me the title for today's upload.
