It took 3 large gins, but I managed to persuade t'other half to come for an evening walk. She doesn't normally do walking, unless there's a shop involved! This view is from the hill just above our house, looking out over the Severn Estuary towards the two Severn crossings in the distance. And I can't be bothered to clone out the bird, sorry!

but nothing is more beautiful than a memory that is born by a piece of music. My Mum's favorite composer was Debussey. This was her favorite piece, and it was a piece that she played with so much feeling, as a child I remember it giving me goosebumps. It still does. We had it played at her funeral. If you have 4 minutes to spare, even if you're not into classical music, give it a listen. I think you'll like it.

This was the first car I ever owned. Not a police version obviously(although that would have been fun!), mine was a very manly primrose yellow, with large rust coloured patches all over! This car saw me through the best times in my mid teen years and took me all over Ireland, all through the "troubles". In fact my best mate lived just over the border so I spent a lot of time going backwards and forwards over one of the most notorious border crossings between the North & South. Known locally as the pepperpot, because the soldiers command tower was so full of bullet holes, it was at this point that my faithful old car ended it's days. The young squaddie during his "search" of my car, slide his little trolley with the mirror on it(to check for concealed bombs) under the back, and said, "Jesus mate, this car has no chassis underneath"!. He was right, it had completely rotted away. End of a beautiful relationship!
I recount tales like this to my kids and they can't comprehend it. I sometimes can't either. What my poor parents must have gone through. To me though, it was just something that was going on in the background. The ignorance of youth eh? I only had girls and booze on my mind. Nothing else came onto my radar!

Meet my new cute Russian friend. Picked up in a flea market for £6, this "Made in USSR" camera I'm told is worth at least £100. I do love a bargain, but I think I'll hang onto it. Always liked the Lomo effect, now I can do it properly.

The sheer joy and excitment of this little man at his 3rd birthday party provided a welcome lift. Held at an open farm, I think the adults had as much fun as the kids! Jack is my niece's youngest.

I went to a local Carnival of Transport about a month ago, and circumstances prevented me from doing anything with the hundreds of images I took until now. Apart from a wind chill factor that made it very uncomfortable, it was very well attended, and definately my kind of day!
