RAGBRAI (Register's Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa) starts tomorrow. These tents were set up for some of the riders. More than 10,000 riders will be leaving Sioux Center and traveling to Clinton, Iowa, during the next week.

This morning I traveled to my workshop in the fog. I went down a road I hadn't been on before, and on my way home I was surprised to see these wind turbines so close to the road. I hadn't even known they were there.

My two girls have gone again, after a summer at home. For me, school starts next Tuesday.

Summer is almost over. I need to take advantage of the days I have left to be out in one of my favorite places.

This is a picture of the participants in the first session I've ever led! They were so gracious and posed for a picture. As you can see the room was packed. (Not! But they moved together to make it look a little better!)

We took our annual strawberry picking trip today. We didn't realize it was the LAST day the strawberry garden was open. So glad we weren't a day late!

Truck Graveyard

I discovered this place for the first time today. It was a huge truck and car graveyard. It was interesting looking around and wondering about the stories that the old automobiles could have told.

It reminded me of exploring the old cars dumped in the desert in California when I was a child. Of course, those old cars didn't have trees growing in the engine compartment.

It was our last evening of Children's Literature class. We went out for ice cream at Blue Bunny. What a nice small group of voracious children's lit readers!

Mini-Me Rainbow

This historical rainbow was created by K-3 students back in 2002.

Our K-12 tech/journalism teacher made it with her students, saved it, laminated it, and hung it up to greet the high school students this morning. Now they will be able to see their mini-me handprints as they come into the school each day.

Church Auction

This beautiful quilt sold for over $1300 at the church auction today. It was created by a family member of Harold VandeWeerd, longtime supporter of our school system who died three years ago.

It was my first time at this auction, but it was obvious the love the folks there had for Mr. VandeWeerd, and, likewise, it was obvious that the family continues to carry-on his legacy of giving.

Today I took some cute pictures of my daughter and her friend in a red convertible! Of course, the photos had to be much better than this screen shot of my computer, but, alas! When I put the card into the reader, there were no pictures on it. I've never had that happen before. I don't even know what it was that happened.

My second choice for today's photo is this one. I spent a lot of time on Glogster today because I just became a Glogster EDU Ambassador and received a premium teacher account. What fun!

Maria is off to begin a new chapter of her life. We had to drop her off today at training. I'll miss you, dear daughter.

This picture was taken on my Canon, but I forgot my card reader at home, so I used my husband's iPod and took a picture of the back of my camera. Then I edited it with WordFoto.

I walked five miles at the Mall of America today and took 200ish photos. Believe it or not, I didn't buy a thing except supper at the food court for my family.
