Pendant le Thaipusam, certaines femmes porteuses de lait et de fleurs (ici de belles orchidees locales Vanda Miss Joaquin) ont, comme les hommes, la bouche et la langue percées de petite lances.
On Thaipusam, some women carrying milk and flowers (hers some beautiful local orchids Vanda Miss Joaquin) have their mouth and tongue pierced by little yet painful spears, like their male counterparts.

Deux femmes tamoules pendant la procession de Thaipusam, a Little India. La femme en jaune a vraiment un style tres elegant et j'aime la position de ses pieds nus, comme si elle dansait.

Plantés par de gros hamecons, des petits pots de lait rituels ornent les dos de ces hommes, pendant la procession de Thaipusam.
Fixed by big hooks, some little ritual milk pots are enhancing the beauty of those men's backs, during Thaipusam procession.

Thaipusam 2007. Penang Road (Singapore).
Il est 8h30 du matin. La procession du Thaipusam a commence depuis 3h du matin et va durer jusqu'a 10h du soir.
It's 8.30am. Thaipusam procession has already started 5 hours ago, around 3am, and it will last til 10pm.
Pour rendre hommage a la renaissance du dieu Hindou Subramaniam, des milliers de devots vont du temple Sri Srinivasa Perumal (Serangoon Road, Little India) jusqu'au temple Sri Donaayuthapani (Tank Road, Fort Canning) en portant de lourds khavadi tres decores. Detail important : ces khavadi sont fixes sur leurs corps par des crochets tres douloureux. le matin, ce sont en general les hommes les moins forts physiquement et les plus pauvres qui defilent, escortes par leurs proches. Cet homme sur la photo est le gringalet du defile (il doit peser a peine 50kgs). Mais il est fier et majestueux.

In order to pay a tribute to the eternal rebirth of the Lord of Fertility Subramaniam, thousands of devotees are walking from Sri Srinivasa Perumal Temple (Serangoon Road, Little India) up to Sri Donaayuthapani (Tank road, Fort Canning), carrying heavy and very colorful khavadi.
Important detail : these khavadi are fixed in their bodies by horrific and painful hooks and needles.
In the morning, these are generally the weakest and poorest devotees who are marching, followed by their relatives.
This man (weighing perhaps less than 50kgs) is probably the puny runt among the devotees. But he's proud and majestic.
