I took this photo of my friend Gottrell's 1967 Ford Mustang. He did the restoration himself. This was taken in November of 2008 on the Las Cruces, New Mexico flood control dam near Lohman Avenue.

"Province" - TV On the Radio

112 second exposure of the Perseids meteor shower. The town of Radium Springs, New Mexico is shown in the photo. In addition I got the band of the Milky Way Galaxy. 15 miles North of Las Cruces, New Mexico. 12AUG07 just before midnight.

Shown on KDBC TV Channel 4 News in El Paso, TX.

Thunder storm over the Organ Mountains in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Taken on 27JUN07 on top of the dam near Lohman. This photo was shown this morning on KDBC 4 News at Sunrise.

Severe Storm - 04OCT10

We had a very severe storm on 04OCT10 in Las Cruces, New Mexico. There was a very eerie and flat cloud over the city with this formation on the edge of the storm. It definitely had some rotation and tons of lightning followed by at least an hour of rain mixed with hail. Crazy weather here in New Mexico!

An incredible capture of the Perseids Meteor Shower near Las Cruces, New Mexico. Using a 102 second exposure I was able to capture 2 meteors, the band of the Milky Way Galaxy, and several lighting strikes in a nearby storm all at the same time. I took this photograph between Radium Springs and Fort Seldon, New Mexico on 12AUG10 just before midnight.

Organ Mountain Fire 16JUN10 - 1

I went out again tonight (16JUN10) and took pictures of the fire here in Las Cruces. As you can see the fire spread over to the other side of the mountain and looks pretty ominous. I am really proud of this photo. Not only is it technically a good picture but the story it tells is pretty neat. The desert in the foreground, the city lights and traffic, and this amazing fire looming in the background. If this doesn't illustrate the convergence of man and nature I am not sure what does. This photo was taken from A-Mountain just outside of Las Cruces, NM and is a 109 second exposure taken around 9:30pm on 16JUN10.

This is a re-work of one of my other posts. I used the Orton Technique to get this soft "diffused" look and re-cropped the photo. This was taken during the 2007 Festival of Cranes at the Bosque Del Apache National Wildlife Refuge in New Mexico. The bird on the right most branch of the main tree is a very rare Aplomado Falcon. They are nearly extinct and recently a few captive birds were released into the wild. I was told this was one of them. The small specs in the sky are Canadian Snow geese and Sandhill cranes. In a strange twist of irony, Trinity Site (the location of the first atomic bomb detonation), is right at the base of the single mountain in the background.
