"Do you want to take my picture?" asked Rickard.

"I would love to take a picture of you."

"Go for it our kid"

I was walking the streets of Manchester. It was the day of the Pride Parade and of course I had my camera with me. As I walked past Richard he suggested, in a really broad Manchester accent, that I took a picture of him. I was of course delighted. I stumbled into my usual talk of my 100 strangers project on Flickr.

"Oh the strangers - yeah I know that" said Richard.

Realisation dawned. I'm not his first. Richard has come across photographers who want him in the 100 Strangers Project before. He is such an intersting character that I'm not at all surprised. His unkempt looks may put a few people off approaching him, but I reccomend you speak to Richard should you see him in Manchester. He is a genuinely friendly guy, very chatty, and an amazing character. He'll also pose for impromtu portraits.

Stranger 31 of 100 - Kim

Well what a breath of fresh air Kim is. Instanly likeable, charming and chatty. I think most of out conversation was about me rather than Kim, but I shall endevour to tell you the story of our meeting.

I was a little down about Stranger number 30, the delightful Dee. Dee was fine, but my photographic skills were somewhat lacking. I took a stroll out of my door with my camera. Within five minutes I saw a bright green cap and sopme matching balloons moving down the road. I decided to invstigate.

Underneath the cap, and holding the balloons was the lovely Kim, cycling down the road handing out the baloons. My request for a snapshot was greeted with a smile. We got chatting and I asked Kim if she'd help me with my 100 Strangers project. She said she would help and then we started chatting about all manner of things.

It turns out that Kim is an aspiring actress. "Headshots" I replied immediately. Well it turns out that Km was thinking about having some more headshots done. She has some in her portfolio, but doesn't feel that they portray fully her range of acting talents. The images, nice though they are, show Kim as the "girl next door". Although she does live next door to some people, there is a lot more to it. I gave Kim my contact number - and had stupidly left my business cards in the house. Hopefully she will be in touch and we can try to get some images that she's happy with, and I get to practice taking headshots. Win win.

If you are reading this Kim, thank you so much for helping me with my 100 Strangers project. You brightened my day up and I'm sure you will brighten up the 100 Strangers group on Flickr.

I've been rummaging through the hundreds of photographs I've taken and never done anything with. I spotted this image taken (obviously) at the Gadget Show Live event in April 2012. I noticed that most people at the event seemed to be striding forward with purpose, and the idea of a slightly longer expose to capture some motion occurred to me.

I had no tripod, but I did find a handy bin that I could use to steady the camera. Unfortunately I couldn't get behind the bin to frame the shot up properly, but I think I got it fairly level. I'm pleased with the level of motion blur. I think the 1/6 second exposure is just about right.

I may try something similar with a tripod.

Saturday was a strange day. My 100 strangers project has stalled somewhat. I hadn't been making the effort. I have met some lovely people on my regular train journeys, but none seemed right for the project. I decided to take the bull by the horns and get out with my camera.

I set off for the train station, ready to travel to the city center. I was 5 minutes out of the house and I bumped in to Adrian, who is one of stranger number 18. I told him I was determined to find another stranger.

So into the city center I went. I'd snapped a few street shots of interesting people, or people doing interesting things when my attention was grabbed by a shock of red (and I do mean red) hair. Attached to the hair was a beautiful bespectacled young woman chatting with friends. I then realised that I recognised the woman. I had seen this hair/glasses combination before. On Twitter I follow a very entertaining lady by the name of Zan. She posts funny jokes that really appeal to my daft sense of humour, and always has a cheery word for me on the odd occasion that we tweet about the same things. Her profile picture clearly shows the same glasses and a red streak of hair. Could it be her? Is this the same girl?

I strode up to the group of friends, said hello, and asked outright if she and Twitter Zan were the same person. Of course they are. There is only one Zan. She was in Manchester visiting a show and some friends. I was introduced to the group, and asked what I was up to that day. "I'm looking for strangers to add to my project". I already had my camera in hand. Zan very kindly allowed me to take her picture, and this is what you see here.

I am absolutely delighted to have moved my strangers project along, but even more pleased to have met Zan. On Twitter she is fun to follow, but in real life she is a pure delight. She has hair and a smile to brighten up any day. I'm sure she will add some colour and character to the 100 strangers group on Flickr.
