she is a lady in waiting, and she's up with the dead. hands full of stationary ships that drift into bluffs and slide into cliffs. one evening she'll find herself face down like the hull, and maybe then someone will ship her off and she'll be noticed. maybe.

It is supposed to be our anniversary and I cannot find you. I am lost. Shadows are cast in three dimensions. Crepuscular rays. Three years ago you called them God’s Fingers. Do you remember? You told me you would never leave me. You told me look into lights that radiate through a single point in the sky. For the past three years I have gone into the fog and all I saw were dark cloud-shadowed regions. But tonight I found you. I am an ice crystal suspended in the air near the earth’s surface.

my laptop is on the fritz again and my memory card is being rough.

i'm going to have to redo my q&a video because my memory card deleted everything off itself. :/

this is really simple, but i like it. location is outside the townhouse i live in on campus. it's a themed housing. we are the multi-faith house. i identify as agnostic, so it's very interesting living here and learning about different faiths.

i finished my finals today! i should have all A's and B's this semester, and i might even make Dean's List. but probably not.

how is everyone doing? anyone struggling with finals?

Shot to the Moon - Happy Halloween and Update

I've been MIA because of school. This weekend, however, I have at least three shoots lined up! One is a walking dead inspired shoot with my first male model besides myself and my dear friend Audrey. The other is with the insanely talented Meg Ford. She sings and plays violin/viola and we're doing a shoot inspired by the organicness of music and how it helps you reconnect with the world. And the other is to be determined.

I thought I'd post his back up since it's nearly Halloween! :)

Sarah is covered in glow in the dark paint. We tried glowsticks, but that didn't work. I really love this a lot, and I had the song above in my head the entire time.

With that said, this photoshoot was so incredibly frustrating. I couldn't get it not to blur, but we ended up getting it because Sarah, my model, kept pushing me to get this right, and I finally got the settings right. I appreciate that from her so much. Once we got it though, I was so excited.

this photo was a complete accident. we had a shoot, and i was expanding the frame and meant to just take a photo of the sky, but i accidentally had alix in the frame. it was a great accident. :)

i'll be editing the final product later!

also, the dress she's wearing is really a piece of fabric from the thrift store that was 79 cents and a belt alix brought with her. :)

In the days of tribalism men bought, traded or stole their wives and I was traded. Before I can take off my dress from another blind date I am forcing my eyes to close. But when they close all I see is a homemaker’s chief concern is to meet her family’s nutritional needs with foods they liked. I never burned a meal but I did forget to smile. He finally gave up and said you can do whatever you want. Just admit you don’t give a damn. I did try, but could not force myself to feel good. You actually have been disapproved of or rejected in spite of your efforts to improve the relationship with the other person. The words repeated as I tried to sleep on his mother’s mattress. It was a gift on our wedding day. I am too weak to heed the advice if you feel mad, pound a pillow. When I dream I think of love’s contractual liberation. Freedom is essentially freedom for self-realisation, and only self-realisation is essentially freedom. And what are you? A human being. And what follows? I should make mistakes. Right. Now sleep.

The above was written my Sarah, my model for this shoot. It's a sort of a borrowed piece because all the words come from the books pictured in the photo. These include a cookbook, a self-help book, and a religion book. :)

I really liked how this worked out, and a special thanks to my new roommate Armond for helping us out with this photo and holding Sarah's legs up. ^__^

She begins to submerge her head. Once completely underwater, she exhales and her glub, glub, glub joins the now disjointed and distant pounding of Robert’s fist on the door and Daniel’s persistent and pitiful screaming. She opens her eyes under the water, staring up at the misshapen white bubbles on the top of the bath. Some of the lavender liquid dances on the top of the water; it has yet to turn into frothy bubbles.

Beneath them, she smiles despite the water filling her mouth. She longs to stay under forever, but she is not sure how long she can hold her breath. Maybe I can hold it forever, she thinks. I never want to leave.

The above is an excerpt from a short story I wrote a year or so ago. If you'd like to read it in it's entirety, let me know. :)

This is from this day. I really hated it at first, but after letting it sit for a good month, I discovered I quite like it. I actually gave it the same name as the one linked above because I feel it's the same idea, but an extremely different execution.

I wasn't sure what scene I wanted to do from CoS. I toyed with the Basilisk and the diary, but I really thought I'd try something with Aragog and the other spiders. I really like this a lot. I feel like it's a lot more dynamic than my first one, which you can see in the comments below!

I really quite like this photo. I am mildly obsessed with clouds now, if that is not evident by this photo and my last. Love challenge in emotion/color collaboration. :)

This is out by the pond/lake we have on campus. It was a gorgeous, cool day today. The high was up in the sixties. It was a huge change from the snow that happened last week. I insisted to Sarah that we shoot outside today. I also wanted to do something couple-y. Granted, I am gay and Sarah is straight, we’re both single and decided to do something like this where she is taking me up to help create the night sky. I hope everyone’s Valentine’s day was fabulous. Sarah and I made pizza and cinnamon buns. We’re about to eat the cinnamon buns now!

only in the sun does she find herself able to smile. it is the light that heals the darkness, the pain, the suffering, and on a whim, she reaches out and kisses it. lightly at first, and then engulfing it until she too becomes light.

Inspired by a couple of Sarah's photos. :)

1. I am happy with this.
2. Hot wax really isn't all that painful.
3. I am officially addicted to the square crop.
4. And that candle on my chest is REALLY on my chest dripping hot wax.

I was going to title this "Finding the Light" and have that represent the need to find meaning and passion in one's life - the fire that burns in us all, essentially, but I went with falling out of darkness still to see instead because it really represents a need for hope and a reason to keep pushing. <3

I first heard the song in the anime Gunslinger Girl. It's incredible. Any of my Flickr friends an anime fan? What are some of your favorites?
