26th March 2011 Anti Cuts Protest - LONDON #1
Just of few of the many thousands of placards, signs and banners used during the London Protests, 26th March 2011. It was estimated that between 250,000 and 500,000 peaceful protestors attended this mass protest. Unfortunately a very small amount of direct action groups overshadowed this. The mainstream media latched onto these 'anarchist groups', and their story was the main one told that day.

Once the elite athletes had passed, onlookers were shown a true example of grit and determination, as the amateurs and fun runners brought up the rear, some for themselves, some for their chosen charity.

The 26 miles and 385 yard race which has been run since 1981, took its toll on the runners as it does year on year.

With over 35,000 runners taking to the streets, the 2011 Virgin London Marathon was a truly outstanding sight.

Runners, ran, panted, sweat, walked, jogged and jostled, all for the privilege to say that they had taken part in the London Marathon.

Those watching cheered for total strangers every step of the way; they encouraged and acknowledged their commitment to the race, and some perhaps thought, ‘maybe next year’

Just two weeks before the Royal Wedding and London is as busy as ever. There was a definite buzz in the air, mostly amongst the tourists, armed with cheap and nasty wedding souvenirs.

All of the pomp and ceremony that will surround the Royal couple will be framed by a sea of Union flags and uniforms, just like that of this member of the Household Cavalry.

For him it’s another day of tourists and photographs, but today he is being watched by another British institution, albeit not quite as old.

Police in riot gear brace themselves for a group of protestors making their way along Oxford Street, 26th March 2011. This preemptive action was taken up and down Oxford Street in an effort to protect people, property and minimise destructive protest action.

Two Police officers stand on guard outside Niketown, Oxford Circus, during protests, 26th March 2011. After direct action groups emerged from the excited crowd, paint/smoke bombs, fireworks and at least one dead pidgeon was thrown at Police.

Police prepare to engage Direct Action groups on 26th March 2011 in Piccadilly Circus, London. Close to this junction peaceful protestors were merging with anarchist groups intent on causing damage and destruction. The peaceful protest was able to move on without issue or incident.

The 'wobo', world bottle wall in Amsterdam.

Alfred Heineken commissioned the bottle that could be used to build affordable housing once emptied.

The prototype bottle never progressed further than being just a prototype.
