Made my mind up yesterday for a trip to winterton dunes too hopefully see the southern emerald.Foggy/misty start to the day.arrived at the dunes about 9ish and walked to the second 'double' pond where two guys said they had seen them yesterday.on arrival a guy named Rick was there,very knowledegeable guy had seen them on friday but not this morning so far.Then he spotted the newly emerged four spotted chaser,we both stood there amazed at seeing this in september.........Then suddenly he spotted a worn southern through his binns,and from then on it was all go,went too 3 of the ponds and saw 7+ males and 3 females from two of the ponds,i got soaked boots,soaked jeans,but it was well worth it,another rare one too add to my list,well chuffed!!!!!

Something different from me,norwich sci-fi convention,really enjoyed it,lots to do and see,Met Robert Llewellyn (Kryten....Red Dwarf) and Peter Roy who starred in all the original star wars films.And of course the body painting,this was amazing,very clever and the models wer stunning too,note to self tho,get peoples feet in,lol,they aint bugs!!!!!!

Another shot of these striking caterpillars.

The caterpillars begin life resembling black and white bird droppings, but as they grow, they become plump bright green caterpillars with black bands and orange spots along the body. If the caterpillar feels threatened, two horn-like bright orange scent glands emerge from the back of its head producing a smell, which has been likened to pineapple.Thanks to NWT for the info

Upton Fen
Second time ive seen one of these hawkers and feel so lucky,they are just stunning,the eyes are just sooooooooooooooo lovely.Lots of brown hawkers flying today,just 1 norfolk.spotted this one in the reeds,if you see one in real life you will know just how stunning these are.

Well i must say its just a hellova lot of fun strolling around looking for these Dragons,no flash arm and flash,no diffuser,just my tammy macro lense and everything natural.these have really captured my heart,These southern hawkers are just so nosey lol,they come up to me,fly off,have another look and dont seen the least bit threatened by me being in there world.a real chillout of a time.

Decided to go out today despite being overcast with a few snow showers.Headed to ormesby in search of the smew,but nothing apart from coots and pike fishermen.Then thought might as well go to caister to see if i could get any closer to the snowbuntings after last sundays trip,and hoped there where less blinkin dogs about on the beach.Arrived,weather was dull,low light and damn cold,couldnt find them at first but as per usual they soon showed themselves,chased them around for a bit then decided to sit it out next to where the guy feeds them.Was not long before they came waddling up the beach right in front of me,then a dog would come and they would go off but came back about 5 times,although the light was rubbish im pleased with these shots,stuck it out as long as i could,i was shaking uncontrollably with the cold,i must of looked so funny just random shaking lol.Taken me ages to warm up but worth every second of it,lovely little birds with real character when they came strolling up to me.

Clear skies and the waxwings wer showing all day,far too many people for my liking but ho hum.Saw 20 ish last night,5 this morning then just 3 that hung around most of the day.
Quality is a bit low as used the onboard 2x convertor which knocks picture quality down to 6mp,i so need a longer lense!!!!!!.

I know its not a good shot but the weather was worse than a worse thing,if not worserer!!!!!!!!,lol.So glad i actually found one,well there was about 20 birds that wer after the berries and they did hang around quite a while,just such a shame about the weather,ho hum.But was nice too meet new flickr friends snaphappy-46 and Bilvo.

Dull day,rain first thing this morning.Headed to strumpshaw fen at 7 ish this morning as could not sleep.The kingfishers wer out in force today,at reception hide and fen hide,Quite happy with these shots considering i havent got a birding lense,really enjoyed my day,met milesmilob and had a walk round and a laugh.

Well getting a bit better images of them,must try harder lol,think its got a mayfly in its mouth?,u can see the green goo oozing out,yummy lol.

Mega crop from original,not great quality but 1st time i have witnessed this so was rather pleased.She returned when the male had dissapeared as he kept hassling her,i was hoping to get a shot of him but he never landed,saw him eating a damsel on the wing though,and chasing off anything in sight,although there was a female 4 spotted chaser laying eggs with the male protecting her and the emperor didnt seem to worry them one bit.
