In Allendale County, there's a 2.8-mile section of US Highway 301 that's no longer used since they built a new roadway next to it, so the county turned the old road into a walking/biking trail, sort of like those "rails-to-trails" systems you see often. The end of the trail is at an old swingbridge over the Savannah river, which used to cross into Georgia.

I went there because (of course) I went geocaching around Allendale county. There are caches all along the trail, including one here at the end. I couldn't find the cache but I walked away with my facedown picture this week. :) HFDT!

Week 13 - My Heart Will Go On - Celine Dion ('97)

Admit it. You still like this song after all these years. :) It took me a while to warm up to this song (and it didn't help that I never saw Titanic), but once it finally grew on me, it grew on me big time.

For the picture for this song, there was really only one picture that had to be taken: the cliché "I'm the king of the world!" pose on a boat. And for my 52 Weeks project, of course I went big and used a big boat: the USS Yorktown docked at Charleston, SC. That's SC's state flag flying there, and the bridge is US 17 over the Cooper river (connecting Charleston and Mount Pleasant)

Using this as my "boat" picture for 111 pictures in 2011 and it's also fitting for today's April Fool FGR too - Acting a fool in public

Another picture taken at Hatcher Garden. This spot was just too nice to not take a picture of Bowie at.

This is the first time I've used 2 pictures of Bowie on the same day. So yay for twice the Bowie!

Last week, Cynthia did her FDT picture on a pedestrian bridge that was similar to this one found in the nearby nature park. When I saw her picture, I knew I had to do a copycat for my FDT this week. :)

I was hoping there would be enough of a summer feel to this to include it into the We're Here theme today, but those back trees are too bare. :P

TRP - 100 Words, based on the David Clark book "Photography in 100 Words"

There were some geocaches stored in my Garmin that I had left there because I couldn't find them the first (or 2nd) time around and wanted to retry at another time, so this morning, I went to go re-search for a few. One of them was located near this: the old Poinsett Bridge, which is part of the first road that went from Greenville to Asheville, NC.

Surprised I didn't do a facedown picture here, aren't you? Well, I wanted to do this shot instead for Jason's group, Happy Big Cushy Chair Tuesday. (Cushy bridge, huh? lol) Plus, you know how much I love to show off that my camera has a 30-second timer. =) This wouldn't have been so bad, but it was an uphill run I had to do in order to get up to the bridge. It definitely strengthened my heart a bit because I did 3 retakes. :P

TRP - Fench Friday

Special thanks to Downhillmonkey for choosing FF as today's TRP theme. I had been meaning to do a FF picture for some time but I can't seem to find interesting fences (and I want to save benches for Mondays).

This is the bridge on Main Street in downtown Greenville, over the Reedy River. (That pedestrian bridge in the back is part of the Swamp Rabbit Trail, which extends along an old railbed from Greenville to Travelers Rest)

Having to layer up makes me want to jump while wearing a $1 mask (288/365v2010:10/15)

It was in the upper 40s this morning when I got off of work and it was in no hurry to warm up despite the cloudless sky, so I wore jeans & a jacket for my picture for the 1st time this season. I'm not ready for that until all the trees start changing color.

TRP (my choice) - On the Map - the newest group for geotagged photos

You all know how much I love Facedown Tuesday, so today I figured I would show some range in terms of modeling for self portraits by doing a Face-Up Wednesday. :)

This was taken on the riverwalk along the Chattahoochee river in Phenix City, Alabama. And yes, I spelled that right: "Phenix" is spelled without an O.

Today is Canada Day, so in honor of that, I used my FGR choice for July to choose I wish I was in Canada.

The base picture here is of the Detroit River, which separates Detroit, MI from Windsor, ON, and I took this from the Windsor side. That bridge is the Ambassador Bridge. It was a picture I took back in '03 when I went to Michigan for a late summer vacation and I snuck over into Canada for a couple hours. While there, I saw an old fort, had lunch at Tim Hortons, and of course I checked out Windsor's riverfront.

So, to our allies up north: all I can say is eh, eh! =) Happy Canada Day!

UPDATE: My friend Shannon (whitepuffycloud) started July's ABC Soup 2010, so the Ambassador bridge takes care of A. :)

The other $1 toy I bought last week from Toys-R-Us for Dollar Store Friday: a bubble wand. Either I don't know how to use a bubble wand or it was broken. Probably the latter. :D

When trying to think of different locations to shoot at, I decided to try the new pedestrian bridge over the Reedy River in Lake Conestee Park. With all the jumps I did, I definitely tested out the bridge's resistance. :)

I actually got some bubbles to show up in a couple takes, but I kept this one because it had my best form. =)

I kept this SOOC because I like the colors and didn't want to mess with them.

This is why I love my 30-second timer. =)

This was taken along the Augusta (Georgia) canal, across from the old Enterprise Mill. That's the 15th Street bridge in the distance.

I used my cell phone's stopwatch to time myself as I ran for 25 seconds, then turned around and put my hand up to make it easier to see me. Surely you can see me, right? haha
