Here's the shot from yesterday but without me and touched up a bit more to get ready for printing. Normally wouldn't post this right after (since I still have not decided if I want to get PRO or not and have to delete a picture everytime I add one) but I like this photo a lot and I think the differences in the photo really pop when put side by side.

Self Portrait in Florence (Explored)

Set my camera up on a small tripod with a cable release and hopped up on the ledge to get a ghost-like self portrait of me with the Ponte Vecchio in the background.

I did an edit of the same shot without me in it and had some light trails from cars on the left and got rid of all the noise in the sky, but I like this one with the noise and me.. it gives it a different feel

This is the last picture I took when I was in Florence. In Florence there are tons of tiny streets like this one that branch off of slightly larger (but still very narrow) streets. Taking a small street will lead you to a new world in just a few steps, and you never know where you'll end up.

This is a different view of the Ponte Vecchio. The depth of the reflection here is incredible, as it reaches all the way down to the blur at the bottom of the picture. I really like the sharp point where the bridge and its reflection meet by the boat.. really a beautiful site, just trying my best to convey it.

This shot is taken from the first bridge over from the Ponte Vecchio. It was just a short walk from my apartment and I looked out each night for the perfect reflections in the water. This night was one of the best nights for the reflections.

Here's a shot I found in one of my folders and edited the other day. Still so many great photos to be discovered from Italy. I went a bit stronger than I usually do on the HDR on this to really get a painterly feeling.

Anyone have any tips for sharpening photos to post to Facebook?

This is the view of the sun setting over the Ponte Vecchio from hanging out my apartment window in Florence. Florence was such an amazing place, and our apartment was located in an incredible spot.

Today I got some more of my marble photos and a few of my HDR photos from Italy framed to hang in a local gallery. Once I pick up the finished products I will take some pictures of the framed products and post them here. The name of the gallery is Le Reve Gallery. Check it out, its a great place!

Another edit of a Venice picture using my new Topaz Adjust5 Photoshop plug-in. I think I like it!

Today I learned that I made my second sale at the gallery.. and it was another one of my marble photos! It is very exciting for me to start selling photos and getting my name out there.

Central Market. Florence, Italy.

This is a small colelction of pictures I took of workers at the central market in Italy. It is a very different style of photography for me, as I typically take pictures like these but then keep them hidden away in folders without a second look. I was unsure how to arrange them to post on Flickr. I don't think any of my images are so excellent as to be stand alone images, but I think that together they sort of capture the idea that I was trying to capture.. basically just the workers of the market.

I discovered a new taste for street photography while Italy and think I'll be exploring it more next time I go to NYC.

Best street photography lenses? Tips? Editing tips? Anything would be great.

This is another photo from Venice, taken from the side of the Rialto Bridge looking out in the Grand Canal. It was overcast pretty much the entire time I was here but I kind of like the effect it gives this shot with the buildings in the back left starting to fade.

Tuscan Steps at Sunrise

Villa Vignamaggio. Tuscany, Italy.

Here's a photo from my visit at Villa Vignamaggio up in the Tuscan countryside. The weather was very bad for the 2 days that I was there but I got both sunsets, and this was the better of the two where the weather actually was not so bad. I'm not sure how much I like the blurred effect from the trees waving around in the wind, although it is interesting and done on purpose.

On another note, I am finally researching upgrading my Canon Rebel XS! Should I upgrade to the 50d, 60d, or 7d? Or, instead, should I do a lens upgrade, upgrading my 18-55mm standard to the 17-55 2.8? I have been doing a lot of research and could use as much help as I can get so please help!
P.S. I'm on a low budget unfortunatly :/

Streets of Florence

This picture was taken on my last day in Florence (the second time). I came back to Florence from Tuscany and realized that I did not take a picture capturing a bike as a main subject. I thought that this was important, as there are not many cars in the busy part of Florence. Everyone just walks on the roads and moves when there is a car coming, but many people also ride bicycles.

I am working on sorting through and processing my pictures from Tuscany countryside, so my next post will be a picture from there!

Venice

After Florence, I went to Venice for two days. This picture is taken on one of the many bridges on one of the many canals of Venice, Italy. I am not sure what the tower is in the background but I learned that it is leaning because the of problems with the foundation and the ground. The leaning tower and the leaning wood in the water (blanking on what those are called?) work to make the picture look like it is tilted, when in reality, the horizon is level.

What captivates me about this picture are the reflections in the water, the colors in the buildings and vegetable boat, the vegetable boat itself.

Florence Apartment

I have not had connection lately to upload and post anything to Flickr because I was in Italy! I visited Florence, Venice, and the Tuscany Country side. I have over a thousand photos to sort through and edit and I will be posting photos from my trip for the next few weeks.

This is one of the first photos I took upon arriving to Florence. It is the view from my apartment which was right across from the Rio Arno. It had a great view of the Ponte Vecchio (to the right but not in this picture) and of the buildings across from the river (shown in this photo).
