Built as a woollen mill in 1847 for Victorian textiles magnate John Murgatroyd, the Oats Royd Mill was operational until the 1980's.

Like the prow of a great ship! This building is located on the eastern side of an area of Bradford known as Little Germany. The Gatehaus (also known as Tower Haus) was designed by Robinson Architects and is probably the best “modern” building in Bradford, well that’s my opinion anyway. The curvy shape seems to materialise out of the sky.

Glencoyne is the valley just north of Shefield Pike that runs into Ullswater at Glencoyne Bay, it is believed William Wordsworth was inspired to write his famous poem 'Daffodils' whilst passing here in April 1802 (as recorded in Dorothy Wordsworth's Journal).

Singing Ringing Tree

Above the Lancashire town of Burnley is the ‘Singing-Ringing Tree’ – a musical sculpture in the form of a tree bending against the wind, designed by architects Tonkin-Liu. As the wind blows it produces a low and mellow hum through the 100’s of pipes, the low hum is not supposed to frighten wildlife, I guess they don’t believe in ghosts as it’s a very haunting sound!

Inclement weather moves in over Ullswater (turned out to be a very wet day with cloud covering the tops). The image was toned with a ‘coffee’ tone in Silver Efex Pro to add to the feeling of approaching bad weather.

Possibly my last post before Christmas so I hope you all have a good one and see you in the New Year (well your images anyway!).

An unusual subject for a panorama (made up of 5 shots in total) this container from a truck lies abandoned on the cycle track between Hebden Bridge and Mytholmroyd. The combination of the overgrown and peeling paintwork is just so appealing!

This lovely old humpbacked bridge was built in 1792 and connects the Island of Seil to the mainland and is known as the "Atlantic Bridge" (more correctly the Clachan Bridge) and is reputed to be the shortest Atlantic crossing!

Popples Barn on the hills above Hebden Bridge. I really fell for the reflections in the windows and on the roof, the tree adds to the gritty stark feel and the two crows add a little extra. Processed in Silver Efex Pro 2 and given a touch of grain, again to add to the gritty feel.
