The Playdates sporting their new uniforms. At first I really didn't like this photo, because it looks pretty crappy right out of camera. Normally I would have ditched it, but in this case I did what I could in photoshop. Now I like it a lot more.

Had an amazing shoot with a local t-shirt company, Rebel Life Apparel. Could not be happier with the shots I got, and this series is one of my favorites. Turned out exactly the way I wanted it too. I enjoyed mixing things up and trying something a bit different than I normally do.

I've been shooting lots of client work lately which is amazing, especially engagement sessions which are some of my favorite shoots.

Here's a shot from last night. I was mixing it up and trying some auto FP high speed sync stuff since I've been so inspired by Ryan Brenizer's work lately. Very little edits on this one.

Here's a shot I took last night from a client session, and wanted to post it and share a little bit about how I took it.

First off, it was a very drab and foggy day. The light was very flat and neutral, and wasn't as warm as I had wanted. Sure I could have just changed my white balance and warmed everything up, but then I would have warmed up her face and skin tone way too much for my liking.

So instead I used an off camera flash and changed the white balance settings of my camera. I used a Nikon SB-900 with a 1/2 CTB (color temperature blue) gel on it fired into a 48" Lastolite circular diffuser.

With the white balance of my camera set to 6500K (Daylight) the light on her face would have been blue and the background neutral. So I increased the WB of my camera to around 8000K which made light on her face appear white and really warmed up the rest of the photo.

It is a pretty easy trick but something you might not always think about doing.
