To become a butterfly

Nothing like a good old cliché butterfly picture... As I was editing this is kind of reminded me of the TV series Lark rise to Candleford... I miss that series :(

I wanted to take this to show you all my birthday presents! This beautiful dress that I am completely in love with and one of my new faux butterflies. I got about 20 butterflies all in different colours! I put a picture of a few of them up on my facebook page!

For my birthday I also got more tea cups and saucers.. I love how all my friends get me cups and saucers for my birthday now! Hahaha :) My friends also got me tickets to see Florence and the Machine! I started crying with excitement in the middle of the cafe we were in.. I'm such an embarrassment...

As you can see the severe snow warning has really taken it's toll on the Midlands.... A whole cm more fell the other night... Although I had to go in early taking this shot because it was SO cold! Luckily this place is just outside my house.

~~I made a video of me shooting this which I will hopefully upload to facebook :) update: facebook is being annoying so I will try again tomorrow...~~ Ok video is now up on ~~facebook... Finally!~~ Tumblr! Facebook keeps removing it!

I think I'm a little obsessed with this dress...

This is the other picture I took with my friend's camera, I think I actually prefer this one... The whole no camera thing kind of sucks :/. Good new however, I got a call yesterday to say my lens is fixed! although I have no camera aha. The whole repairs has cost us £400 in all...

Ok voting for the secret 7" competition starts today! I could get the chance to have my picture on a vinyl sleeve for Florence and the machine's single with all proceeds going to the Teenage cancer trust. I helped a friend out with her fashion design shoot last week so I might post some of the pictures up here, it was so fun!

This is going to be my entry for the Secret 7" competition run by talent house. It's for an opportunity to have your picture on a 7" vinyl sleeve for this single by Florence and the Machine :). Voting opens in just a few days so it would really mean a lot to me if you voted for me! I'll hopefully upload something else to remind you and give you the link again :).

This is a bridleway so I was constantly having to move my camera to give a casual 'morning' standing barefoot in a see-through dress holding a lantern... (one person even said 'Wow, must be a long walk if you've brought a lantern!') I was so so cold taking this.. And it was ridiculously windy so this was the only photo where my hair wasn't across my face.. And even though I put torch oil in the lantern, I couldn't light it because of the wind... And lens also gave up after taking about 3 pictures... Other than that, it was... fun?

Sadly this is the last picture my dying lens took. I took it into Jessops after I took this and it turns out it's completely dead and definitely 'shouldn't wobble like that' :/. also, to make matters worse, my camera (that had taken pictures absolutely fine that morning) decided to stop reading every card that was put in it literally as I was showing it to Jessops... So in the end, we sent the camera off to be repaired instead and took the lens home to sell for parts in order to get a new one... Anyone know any reliable places to get lenses cheap? Haha. So all this means that I won't have a camera for 6 weeks :/ so looks like I'm going on another break :(.

Also, I wanted to thank everyone for the reaction to my last picture! I was completely overwhelmed when I had to turn my phone on silent to stop it waking me up with notifications! Thank you all so so much I'm very grateful of all your support!

The lens flare on this is real :) Such a pretty location...

I've decided to take a break from conceptual type photos as I never have any ideas and when I do they don't work. So hopefully if I have a short break I will come back with lots of ideas :). Obviously I will still have to take some photos for college so I might post some of them up if I like them. (I'm using Rosie Hardy and Tim Walker as my research so I have a feeling I'm going to like this project!) Thank you guys so much for all your comments, favourites and general support, it really means so much <3

Today is my flickr birthday :). This time a year ago I had discovered Flickr and all the amazingly talented people on it and decided to give it a go myself. I feel that I have come a long way since my first pictures and my Alice in Wonderland Series and I am learning something new with every picture. It’s funny, this picture kept reminding me of Alice in Wonderland… Photography is the one thing that I enjoy the most and I want to continue grow with each picture I take. I owe a lot to Flickr. Not only did it inspire me to start photography but it is such a supportive network! Never in a million years did I think that people would actually comment or favourite my pictures! I have talked to and even met people I never would have met without Flickr so I just wanted to use this opportunity to say thank you.

This is a slightly cliché levitation but my first picture on flickr was also a slightly cliché levitation so I thought this would be a good picture to use!

I was so, so pleased that my last picture was in the top selection on Vogue Italia the other day. It’s not that big a deal but it was just so awesome to see my picture on the home page, especially just below Karrah Kobus’ beautiful picture :). My picture in the magazine came out the other day! I’ve put a picture of it in the comments :).

I'm using my Mum's wedding dress underskirt again :). This was one of the most painful levitations I've done so far.. The stool was wobbling on the uneven ground and my stomach muscles killed the day after!

Ooh and thanks so much Mum and Dad for buying me a pro account! Yey :D

I really love red in photos at the moment.

This is the underskirt from my Mum's wedding dress! Isn't it gorgeous? I love the frilly bit at the bottom. I saw it and instantly thought - Ballerina :D. I had to sit on a tarpaulin to stop it getting dirty, although I got a nasty surprise later when I picked it up and a HUGE spider leapt out of it onto my arm!

Oh! Good news, I have a new dress which should be arriving any day soon! I hopefully have a shoot planned with my horse but I'm waiting for it to arrive...

I may have another picture or 2 from today with the same kind of theme so it could be a little series I guess? I'm off shopping with Mama now so see you later :)

I don't say this often any more but this really looks good in lightbox :)

I think this may be my first studio picture from college! This is one of my finals for the project transformation my sub-theme was transforming indoors to outdoors. Most of it, including this picture is obviously Tim Walker inspired!

I'm hopefully off to take pictures tomorrow so I'll ramble a bit more then.

Hey Flickr! I am alive!

I've just gone through a real 'I can't be bothered to take pictures' and I have had no ideas whatsoever. I'm also doing a darkroom assignment at college which isn't using cameras at all so I haven't had a reason to pick up my camera. I want to start taking more pictures just when I have ideas! Urgh my face.. Aha.

Oh and the title is also the name of a rose :)

Wilting Hopes

Sorry to continue the flower theme...

It was poring with rain when I took this… This was such a frustrating shoot, my remote started playing up about 5 minutes into the shoot and being un-cooperative all the way through taking this picture. It eventually stopped working all together which meant I had to use self-timer for the other pictures I had in mind which was a complete disaster as my feet were killing from making mad dashes barefoot and getting everything in focus was a nightmare. So I think this is the only picture that worked today…

Oh and the shoot with my horse... Well... Lets say it didn't go to plan.. I hacked him all the way up this massive hill to meet my mum with my camera and dress, got changed and as mum only had two hands, she struggled to hold him as well as help me get on so he decided to bolt with me across the field with my long dress, no feet in the stirrups and barely holding the reins so I had to bale out the side door! He was being completely unnecessary and probably just thought it would be funny. Luckily I still had my hat on while I got on just to be safe! I got back on again but mum didn't like the look in his eye so we decided not to do it. Although I'm going to try again. I won't give up.

Anyway, I have brilliant news! I now have a 50mm 1.4 lens! So so exited! It’s a joy not to have to blur out the backgrounds of photos to fake having a good lens! So all the focus in this is real :).

Oh and you may notice I have a new dress! (finally) I found it in a vintage store in Birmingham, I'll definitely be paying that a visit again! I also have another one so I'll be using that soon as well :).

I am off on holiday to Sardinia on Saturday! We literally booked it last Saturday as a last minute deal so I’m very much looking forward to that! I may even get some photos out there... We will see…

Something is lacking in this? Anyone have any thoughts? I think this is the last from my little Rose series. Although I think I'll be using roses again and hopefully the skirt too!

The title is a quote from a Midsummer Night’s dream by Shakespeare. I actually live right next to the town where Shakespeare was born :).

I was completely blown away by the response to my last photo. 100 favourites! Really!? I had been camping on the night I uploaded it and got very confused that every time I looked at my phone there was another email from flickr! Then got very excited when I found out it had been explored! I love you guys!

I really hope that my next photo will be involving my lovely horse, Star. I have found the perfect field for the shoot although it’s quite a trek to get to it so I may have to catch my mother when she’s in a good mood to help!

Another one from the other day :)

I had my year 11 prom last night! I had such an awesome time... I'm going to miss seeing all my friends so often! I am off to Portugal with one of them on Monday! not sure if I'll take any conceptually type pictures but we'll see! Aaaahhh I can't wait for the summer! :D

I took this really near a road... It was quite funny that every time a car came I had to lie down in the crops! Looks like my dress is going in the wash! and I nearly got caught changing clothes... :/
