stupiduglyfool posted a photo:

Had fun walking in the snow this weekend, with a short walk to Roche Abbey. The wind was quite bitter and there was alot of snow, and pools of melt water to splash around in but at least the sun offered some respite.

Roche abbey is set in a valley so when the sun came out it happened to be quite warm, and sheltered away from the wind.

I've been playing with the processing on this for a bit, I've got two slightly different versions.. can't make my mind up which is best!

Just enjoyed a nice weekend away in the Peak District, not too far away from Bakewell.

We arranged it a few weeks ago, with it being warmer this winter we thought there would be no chance of snow getting in the way, suddenly we have a deluge of snow, anyway we arranged our travel around the weather forecast and managed to get up there no problem and had a fun time and enjoyed a lovely log fire to keep our toes warm after hiking in the snow!

I think my stream will probably demonstrate that I like doing panorama shots, in this case I've gone for 8 pics stitched together, I am finding a bit of practice, finding a rhythm is helping to perfect the art. This picture took a bit longer to process, than the last couple, I thought it wasn't going to work out due to the amount of activity in the foreground.. I've found in the past it's usually difficult, with obvious breaks in the stitching.. I'm pleased this has worked out pretty smooth, (Hugin) has done a perfect job and I am very happy with it's outcome.

This picture shows Roseberry Topping again with the landscape opening out to the Cleveland and Hambleton hills.
A warm summers day

stupiduglyfool posted a photo:

The past couple of weekends I've been out walking and either forgot my camera, or not the charged the battery, this time I charged the battery up, but forgot to put it back in the camera. If all else fails though I always have my mobile phone camera to fall back on, it annoys me sometimes though because the thing is so slow and you got to press the button several times before it takes the picture.. and it insists on an annoying fake click noise. But it has the convenience of always being charged up and always with me :)

Today I visited Potteric Carr nature reserve near Doncaster, I was very impressed by cleanliness of the water flowing through the marshes and lakes, the meadows and lush vegetation.. it was teeming with wildlife which was great, and in particular many different types of dragonfly gigantic specimens too!.. Here I've caught a Common Darter which allowed me to get right up close and put up with my frustrations while the camera decides it wants to take a photo.

The only other annoying thing about the day was mosquitoes they seem to be a real problem here this year with all the rain, and standing water.. I got bitten several times, and the aftermath is annoying itchy blisters, I think future trips I will be taking some insect repellent!

From a recent visit to York, unfortunately I only had my mobile phone with me for taking photos, I wanted a different perspective of the much photographed minster, it's a wonderful building incredibly tall and daunting to stand up close to. The watery theme is quite apt because it was rainy at times heavy downpours, but we managed to get tea at the famous Bettys and miss most of it!

This is a rather loud and proud bus that tours around Whitby. When I first came upon this all I could hear was the hissing of steam, and I quite liked the character which seemed to attract quite a bit of attention from the crowds.

It's been a busy couple of weeks, so had to neglect flickr a little.. however things are calming down a bit and I have found time to work through a load of photos from the past few weeks :-)

This is another perspective of Whitby close to the abbey, the steps here aren't the infamous 199 steps, but must be equally formidable.

Yesterday I hiked a small stretch of the Cleveland Way from Guisborough to Saltburn.. and returned back via 'Cleveland Street'.

The Cleveland Way is a 110 mile trail, from Helmsley to Robin Hoods Bay, It is an ambition of mine to sometime hike the full stretch, I imagine over a week or something :).

Cleveland Street is an ancient trail which the monks between Guisborough Priory and Whitby Abbey used to follow.

In the distance you can get a glimpse of what remains of Guisborough Abbey, sitting in glorious golden fields.

Over the weekend I decided to rebuild my laptop, upgraded Ubuntu to 12.04, it seems a lot slower than I'm used to (maybe time to get something new).

Here is the second version of Roche abbey in the snow.

It's from the same set of pictures as the last picture in my stream but with a different combination of processing.

Stockton knows how to put on a show, a free firework display down by the River Tees.. much fun to be had!

I know I may have got too many Infinity Pictures, but I couldn't resist this one.. and it reminds me a little bit of space invaders.. (perhaps a slightly abstract imagination).

Will be catching up with flickr time shortly been a bit busy lately, thanks for viewing!

Looking up into the Barlow roof of St Pancras alongside the statue of Sir John Betjeman who campaigned against it's demolition in the 1960s, this is one of my favourite landmarks in London, simply fantastic architecture.. great to see it all shiney and new.

This is another Hugin special using a rectilinear projection, I quite like the sense of space that it gave. I have been in two minds whether to upload, I was a bit frustrated with the 'blur' on the right.. but hopefully you won't mind too much!

A magnificent view from the peak of Roseberry Topping, looking across North Yorkshire through to Teesside and in the very far distance County Durham. There is a small town in the foreground called Great Ayton a place for very nice ice cream!

I captured this whilst on an enjoyable hike from Guisborough woods via Highcliffe nab.. again on the Cleveland way. It's quite precarious from the edge of this crag a huge fall to the bottom if you venture too far.

I've got a week in London for work, so I imagine my camera will be buzzing in the not to distant future!
