I saw some b&w flower prints recently and thought it might be interesting to have a go at it myself. With colourful subjects like flowers the challenge is to concentrate on the shapes and composition. Er, it's much harder than I thought! This (so far) is the best of one trip out.

Oxford University Botanical Gardens. Processed in LR4.

I know I keep saying this but it really works - view on black (L) for full effect.

Kings Cross station reimagined and reopened March 2012. Architects: John McAslan + Partners. The skeletal roof is Europe’s largest single span station structure.
Passing through here last weekend, for a fleeting moment I was almost fooled into thinking that Britain was Great again - if indeed it ever was. Still, they've made an impressive space out of what was a complete dump of a station.

"Bread and Circuses" (or bread and games) (from Latin: panem et circenses) is a metaphor for a superficial means of appeasement. In the case of politics, the phrase is used to describe the creation of public approval, not through exemplary or excellent public service or public policy, but through the mere satisfaction of the immediate, shallow requirements of a populace. The phrase also implies the erosion or ignorance of civic duty amongst the concerns of the common man (l'homme moyen sensuel).
In modern usage, the phrase has become an adjective to describe a populace that no longer values civic virtues and the public life.
