some sculptures by Barbara Hepworth, 2012 - originally from Wakefield in her earlier years as an artist, before moving away. With so much of her works given by her daughters for public exhibition the gallery is named after her. The piece at the back was a commission by John Lewis for their main store in Oxford Street, London, and I believe is still there today. She likes to make full scale prototypes for her bronze sculptures.

Tower, York Minster, 2012 - all 272 steps inside to walk up if you want to go on the tour and walk the walls of the top of the York Minster....go to be quite fit !! Kids assure me it was a great view !

work of Barbara Hepworth, displayed at the Hepworth art gallery in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, UK - a relatively new gallery with modern rooms with differing displays by artists on display for say 6 months, and also exhibits like these which are permanent installations.

The piece at the back of this shot can be seen in other shots in this set. This is most famous commission as as Angels Wings, on the front of John Lewis building in central London. More information on it can be found on their own website,
Barbara Hepworth was born in Wakefield and brought up there, thus the connection and the gallery. She likes to build full size prototypes of her work, and likes to work in bronze.

Hepworth Art gallery, Wakefield 2012
a very recently opened art gallery for art and sculpture exhibition in Wakefield, very modern both inside and out. The bridge leads from the main car park across the canal where the boats can be seen to the gallery. There are a number of rooms inside like blank canvas to display artists work in. Some of the Hepworth pieces are more permanent whilst other rooms and exhibits getting changed over every so often. The Hepworth also has evening sessions and sessions for children in the holidays.
