To all those Canon shooters out there who are thinking of upgrading to full frame, the Canon EOS 5D Mk. III has come today, just in case you are not aware yet. I can’t help but drool with this upgrade and I am still in DREAMLAND today.

I have been contemplating of upgrading to full frame in the future as my shooting style is more on the low light and wide angle photography BUT the USD3,500 price of the 5D Mk. III is way too hefty for me. I guess I will just have to make do with my 7D as my primary body and this old IR converted 20D as my fun camera for now... Goodness gracious!
In search of his own muse

I was shooting alone in this location when I came across with this photographer who was mounting his tripod & seems searching for his own muse just like me. Well, the sunset was not as good as I expected but I found some interesting subjects in the frame and that includes him.

I managed to “rescue” this RAW file from my back-up HD but still I’m struggling with Post Processing due to limited resources at hand. Well, I'm currently working on my wife's slow laptop & this image was done on the following trial software as my laptop crashed while on holiday here in the Philippines: Adobe LR 4 Beta, HDR Efex Pro & Nik Color Efex Pro 4. I am familiar with these sorts of software as I have been working on these stuff back in my desktop in Singapore...

What is interestingness? What are the factors considered for images of being EXPLORED? Honestly I neither know how Flickr's algorithm work nor do I have any idea how the magic donkey think. But as far as I know, Flickr's Explore resets daily at exactly 0800H, +8GMT. I have seen a lot of photos both mine and my contacts appear on Flickr's Top 500 only to disappear a few hours after. I have also experienced that some of my images appear in Explore several days thereafter. Anyway, I am not here in Flickr to have my photos being Explored---I am here to seek inspiration from fellow photographers. :)

To check on your images whether the images really made it to Explore(either dropped or still holding on), you can check on this link: www.bighugelabs.com/scout.php

The mood of IR Photography is surreal, ethereal and somehow, in a state of fantasy. And in this case, this fantasy is my sanctuary from life’s little pains of reality.

This image was actually one of my very first IR images when I got my IR modified Canon EOS 20D digital camera. I like the scene so much that I just can't help but remake it---this time further tweaking it via Adobe PS CS5 channel mixer & Nik Efex Color Pro 4.

I will be flying to Manila today and I hope weather will be fine around there. Please bear with me if I can’t comment or drop by into your streams immediately. Have a nice day, Flickr friends!

My intent of embarking into photography was to capture happy moments, beautiful stuff around us and most of all, to preserve my own sanity amid working away from home, away from my loved ones. I have shot this scene so many times, mostly during the golden and magical hours but I have not shot this place at high noon yet---until yesterday. IR photography brought me another notch of joy especially that I have the luxury to shoot even at harsh light now. To all my Flickr friends, thank you so much for dropping by.
On this spot, a few months ago, I went to shoot this scene at twilight. I believe I stepped on the same spot as I shot the same scene at high noon today. This is the joy of shooting IR as high noon is highly recommended to shoot landscapes with an IR camera. I am still in the process of getting to know more of this old piece of equipment as setting the WB & metering with an IR converted camera is somewhat weird. Soon after, I will try to shoot in combination with ND filters to achieve long exposure at high noon with this old yet beautiful piece of equipment.
Shoot to soothe thy soul

On this spot, a few months ago, I went to shoot this scene at twilight. I believe I stepped on the same spot as I shot the same scene at high noon today. This is the joy of shooting IR as high noon is highly recommended to shoot landscapes with an IR camera. I am still in the process of getting to know more of this old piece of equipment as setting the WB & metering with an IR converted camera is somewhat weird. Soon after, I will try to shoot in combination with ND filters to achieve long exposure at high noon with this old yet beautiful piece of equipment.
