An older image I found a few weeks ago from a trip to Glacier three years ago that I kind of liked. I don't know why I never posted it prior to now.. It was a really noisy image and I did soften it a bit to fix it. This was right before sunrise near Babb Montana.(The entrance to Many Glacier)

View from the Highline trail. It's not spectacular lighting but that's usually what happens when you hike in. I guess that gives me even more of a reason to stay in the Glacier backcountry!

I was thinking about Glacier while I was at work kind of in a bad mood. I came home and was looking through photos from this summer. I thought I'd post this one. The only thing I can't get done with at this place is taking enough photographs and unlike my workload, the trip always ends. Maybe I should go work here for a Summer. If I could afford to, I'd even be willing to wash dishes just to spend more then a week here. I can never get enough of this place!! Someday, hopefully sooner then later, I want to backpack from Kintla Lake, all the way to the Belly River to see everything in between. Rumor has it, that it's the most remote and beautiful part of the park and very few people actually see it. I guess you could say it's on my "Bucket List".

I really had to work on this to get it to come out, but I finally got it. The difference was being able to open a Jpeg file in Raw and a little dodging and burning. I tried this shot on my last two trips to Glacier and was unsuccessful for most of the shots even with lots of grad filters (I think I was up to 7 stops at one point). It took me a while but it was one of my favorites from this last trip so I wasn't ready to give up on it. This is Swiftcurrent Falls, Swiftcurrent Lake is right behind me. It's my favorite part of the park. According to Scout, this did get explored and I didn't even know it until a month after the fact. #267 Dec 2,2011.

Another picture of a mountain goat, I took a bunch of these in Glacier. I liked the one with the strange facial expression best but this is probably my second favorite because of the snow against the green grass.

I completely forgot that I took the makings of a panorama of this. It was an extremely windy morning and I thought I had given up and gone elsewhere. I had some disappointments with other images that I shot at a low shutter speed but this came out pretty clear. This is my favorite lake in my favorite part of the park. I do wish it had been a more reflective morning with these colors but if it had, I probably would have got excited and wet my pants!

Not much to say about it, except that I think it looks like a very unique lake and I just love the shape of Bearhat Mountain. I wanted to go back up here because the year before I had hiked up here and it was clear like this when I left Logan Pass. By the time I got to the top of this trail maybe 1 mile, it was pouring down rain. Not so impressive!

I forgot about this photo until I found it. I don't have very many photos of this lake. My favorite area to stay is Many Glacier but I also love West Glacier. I wanted to get sunrise or sunset photos here but staying in Many Glacier, it was about impossible with them closing the road for construction at 9pm. I snapped a few shots and then hurried to get across Logan pass before the closure. It's not fun getting stuck and have to drive clear around the park as I learned the year prior.

Glacier is such a beautiful place!!! This picture demonstrates everything I love about Glacier...red rocks, turquoise lakes and high curvy jagged peaks with stripes on them. Would love to have been here at sunrise or sunset but I'm not quite brave enough to hike Glacier in the dark for multiple reasons.

Though only a few minutes long, this was about the most fun I had on my trip. When I left Grand Teton, I was bummed that I didn't really get a good shot of #610 and her cubs. I did see her but she was at least a half a mile away, which was too much for my lens to handle. The second or third night staying in Many Glacier, I came across a bear jam. Again, they were so far away that I couldn't get a good shot. I stayed and watched for a while. My wife wanted to go back to the campsite and fix something to eat so I took her back and returned. When I returned, the sow and two subadults were a lot closer to the road. Shortly after this, they came onto the road headed right for me and I had to stop shooting and start backing off.

These guys are so funny to watch. They don't appear to be all that shy either. On my trip to Glacier last year I hiked up to Hidden Lake overlook. From the time I left Logan Pass to the time I got to the overlook the sky went from clear blue to very dark gray. (15 minutes at the most) It began pouring. I was standing on the edge of the overlook and about 10 of these goats showed up. They began fighting with each other over the shelter of the trees. It was pretty funny but as they got closer and closer to me I thought I had better take a few steps back as I was afraid I was going to get knocked off the cliff.

Bad Marriage Mountain overlooking Cut Bank Valley in Glacier National Park at sunrise. This area of the park is just beautiful and though it's not empty, it seems to be a lot quieter then the rest of the park. The flowers were already dried up and gone this trip but this meadow was very colorful last year during my visit.
