Over the River Sligachan, on the Isle of Skye.

I've returned today from an enjoyable family trip (including my parents and parents-in law) to the Isle of Skye. Due to the torrential rain and impatience/disinterest of other travellers I was set to have taken no proper landscape photos in 2 days so on the way home past Sligachan when the clouds finally began to clear I forced everyone to take a stop and I got my camera gear and tripod out of the car for the first time... including the first use of my Big Stopper! Far from a great or original shot but at least I got something to show for it. Used a Big Stopper and 2 stop ND grad filter, processed in Silver Efex 2.

Fintry in the haze

The Endrick Water winds it way between the Campsie Fells and Fintry Hills, as the sun sets in a hazy sky over Fintry.

I couldn't decide on the final composition here, this is quite a marked 1:1 crop to show some of the detail lost in the original frame at this size.

I liked the warm evening light on this shot and went for a wider crop so thought it was still worth sharing. I know there is flare but that doesn't bother me. I used a 2 stop ND grad filter.

This was the view from Haylie Brae this evening above Largs on the North Ayrshire Coast.

My wife had requested an original photograph of this area because her friend got engaged at Haylie Brae and we are going to give them a framed print for their wedding gift. My first visit allowed me to select my favoured composition but it was very flat grey light. This was taken on my second visit when I got luckier with the conditions. I used a 2 stop ND grad.

The masonry towers remain as originally built in 1853, and are therefore the oldest surviving elements in Glasgow's Clyde bridges.
