Landing in Zanzibar was a strange feeling. I had never been on a small (smallish) island before and looking at the endless ocean made me feel stranded, or unable to escape it.

Walked up 5.5 miles through rain to get to the top of Nevada falls in Yosemite. There wasn't much company - but this crow followed me for a while.

It was raining hard at this point - which made it a pain to take photos. I'm sure a lens hood would have helped - I constantly had to use my gloves and handkerchief to wipe all the rain drops off the camera - until those were soaked too.

After walking about 5.5 miles to get to this point, I had to follow another path for roughly 5-6 miles down the mountain to get back to camp.

I wouldn't call it miserable weather - but I'd definitely say it was difficult weather. At some points it became hard to see the path at all.

Not knowing what to expect in the intimidating fog ahead made this one of the most exciting parts of the trek. Hit by cramps, being drenched by the rain, the near freezing temperatures, and not seeing anybody else on the path made it even more challenging and interesting.

I don't think I could have asked for much more.
